     Jeffrey Allen Epperly was buried at Evergreen Burial Park, 1307 Summit Ave SW, Roanoke, Virginia.⁴ He was born on February 3, 1960 at Roanoke, Virginia.^2,3 He married Pennye Lynn Ricker on May 23, 1980 at Roanoke, Virginia.³ Jeffrey Allen Epperly died on February 12, 2024 at Hardy, Franklin Co., Virginia, at age 64.⁴ He Jeffrey Allen Epperly, 64, of Hardy, Va., passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Monday, February 12, 2024. He graduated from Cave Spring High School in 1978. Jeff had a long and successful career in the Information Technology field. He worked for VDOT, Atlantic Mutual and Medical Facilities of America. He enjoyed hunting and just being able to do anything in the outdoors. He loved animals and had several pets including his beloved dogs, Abby, Hannah, Pip, and Belle. Jeff completed his dream in being able to have his log cabin in the woods, where he relished working outside in the yard or on the cabin. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Joyce Turman Epperly. Jeff is survived by his wife of 43 years, Pennye Epperly; sister, Jennifer Durrance and her two children, Erika Ragland and Danielle Durrance; great-nephew, Leo Ragland; aunt, Sue Epperly; uncle, Paul Epperly; sisters-in-law, Diane (Jim) Parker, Loretta Miller, and Lisa (Quinn) Mongan; brother-in-law, Dean (Robin) Ricker; beloved dog, Cooper; many nieces, nephews and extended family. Interment will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. on February 14, 2024.⁴

     Betty Jean Pillow was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5737 Airport Road NW, Roanoke, Virginia.³ She was born on September 19, 1935 at Roanoke, Virginia.^2,3 As of circa 1952,her married name was Woods.³ She married Edward Lynn Woods, son of Joseph Clarence "Joe" Woods and Ruby May Conner, circa 1952.^1,3 Betty Jean Pillow died on November 24, 2017 at Rocky Mount, Franklin Co., Virginia, at age 82.³ She Betty Jean Pillow Woods, 82, of Rocky Mount, departed from this life on Friday, November 24, 2017 at home. She was born September 19, 1935 in Roanoke to the late Thomas "Opie" and Carrie Brumfield Pillow. A beloved wife and mother, Mrs. Woods retired from Sears and was a faithful member of Faith Fellowship (Wirtz) for the last 17 years, previously an active member of New Life Christian Ministries (Roanoke) for over 30 years. She loved Jesus with all of her heart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille Tuck, Thelma Martin, and Ala Pillow and two brothers, Corbet Pillow and Hugh Pillow. Mrs. Woods is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Edward Woods; two sons, Daniel (Gwen) Woods of Falcon, N.C. and Anthony (Becky) Woods of Rocky Mount; her twin brother, Bobby (Elsie) Pillow of Roanoke; nine grandchildren, Jim (Marlene) Woods, Timothy Tucker, Carrie (Adan) Zelaya, Anneke Woods, Caitlin (James) Vaughan, Danny Woods, Cara Woods, Asher Woods, and Corrin Woods; seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Carilion Hospice of Franklin County and give a special thanks to Karen Tosh for the love and care shown during this time. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home (Rt. 220 Chapel) with the Rev. Walter Lee Wood and Dr. Daniel Woods officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on November 25, 2017.³

     Chauncey Alton Francis CHAUNCEY A FRANCIS - In the public service, civilian and military, since 1935, Chauncey A Francis is now County Assessor of Davis County, with headquarters at the county seat, Bloomfield. He has been clerk of the Iowa District Court in the Second Judicial District, at Bloomfield, and County Auditor as well as county Assessor. In World War II, he served with the United States Army’s Medical Administrative Corps. He is a leader in veteran’s affairs and in fraternal and civic organizations and for years was associated with the Boy Scout movement. Mr Francis was born in Davis County on June 26, 1911, the son of Fred and Mamie (Tippett) Francis. His father, also a native of the county operated a barber shop at Pulaski until his death in 1914. The mother, who was born in Missouri, died in 1913. The future County Assessor was reared in the City of Bloomfield. In 1929, he was graduated from the Bloomfield High School and for a time he studied in the Gem City Business College at Quincy, Illinois. Then, for a period, he worked in various fields. In January, 1935, Mr Francis began his public career. His first office was that of Deputy Clerk of the District Court. After he had held this post 4 years, he became a candidate for Clerk and, elected to the higher office, assumed his duties in January, 1939. He served 3 terms, and was nearing the end of the 3rd when he took a leave of absence, a military leave to enter the United States Army. Commissioned a second lieutenant, Mr Francis was attached to the Medical Administrative Corps and stationed, successively at Camp Barclay, Texas; Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, and Fort Riley, Kansas. He was promoted to first Lieutenant before his separation from the service was finalized on February 27, 1946. Mr Francis then returned to Bloomfield. Later that same year he was elected County Auditor, but he served only one year, resigning to accept the office of County Assessor. In the political world, Mr Francis was first, for several years, president of the Young Democratic Club of Davis County and, then secretary of the Democratic Central Committee of Davis County. He is past commander of the Reed-Whisler Post No 78, American Legion, in Bloomfield. He is also past master of the Masonic Blue Lodge in Bloomfield; past noble grand of the Bloomfield Lodge, Independent Order of Odd Fellows; past president of the Bloomfield Junior Chamber of Commerce, and is currently serving as treasurer and director of the Bloomfield Country Club. He worships in the Christian Church. For recreation he is fond of all outdoor sports. He is a former Scoutmaster of a cub scout Troop. Mr Francis married Helen Brown, in Bloomfield, in 1929. Mrs Francis is the daughter of Earl and Verna (Grider) Brown. Her father, who was born in Missouri, died some years ago. The mother, a native of Davis County, resides in Bloomfield. Mrs Francis is also active in the American Legion Auxiliary, the Tri-T Club, the Rebekahs and the Bloomfield Chapter of the Order of The Eastern Star. Mr and Mrs Francis are the parents of Shirley A Francis, who was born in January, 1931. Graduated from the Bloomfield High School in 1948, Miss Francis is receptionist at the Gilfillan Clinic in Bloomfield.      Clyde Marlyn Whitlock Clyde Marlyn Whitlock was born 11-24-1942 in Floyd, VA and died 9-29-2020 in Nashville, TN due to medical complications from COVID-19. Clyde is survived by his wife of 56 years Arline Whitlock and his three children, Marlina (Mike) Meador, Malinda Whitlock, and Mark Whitlock. Clyde is also survived by three grandchildren Caitlin Meador, Michael Meador Jr., Corabelle (Luis) Ramirez, and one great-grandchild Dominic Ramirez. Clyde is also survived by his siblings Dale Whitlock, Almeda (Richard) Conner, Perry (Candy) Whitlock, Rebekah Kinsley, Joe Whitlock, sister-in laws Stella Lois Whitlock and Elizabeth Whitlock, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family. Clyde is preceded in death by his son Clyde Marlyn Whitlock II, by his parents Elinos & Estella Whitlock and by his siblings Alton Whitlock, Arthur Whitlock, Robert Whitlock, and Ollie Whitlock. Clyde was born and raised in Virginia on the family farm. He worked the farm with his family and he worked various jobs in the area. He graduated with his High School Diploma in Floyd, VA. Clyde then moved to Nashville to study auto mechanics in 1963. He went to work for Gordy's Garage that was owned by Arline's father. This is where they met and started their lives together. Clyde continued to work as a mechanic for various companies. He started his business in 1985 and continued to do mechanical work until he started truck driving in 2006. In his life, Clyde loved his family fiercely, worked tirelessly, and gave himself to those he loved in his life. He had a sense of humor, a loving heart, and was loved by all who knew him.⁵ He was born on November 24, 1942 at Floyd, Floyd Co., Virginia.^4,5 He married Arline Jane Gordy on August 15, 1964 at Floyd Co., Virginia.³ Clyde Marlyn Whitlock died on September 29, 2020 at Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee, at age 77.⁵
