Born October 7, 1921 in Shawsville, Va., he was the son of the late William Oscar and Della Rose Aliff. He was employed for 40 years with the Norfolk and Western Railways and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen. He was a member of the Covenant Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Nannie Belle Shrader Aliff, at home; two daughters, Nona Hager, Martinsburg, Karen Aliff, Moler's Crossroads; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Burgess D. Aliff, Christiansburg, Va., James A. Aliff, Blacksburg, Va; one sister, Irene Sutphin, Christiansburg, Va; a number of nieces and nephews; and longtime friends, Delbert and Jack Foutz, Raymond, Matthews, Bill Petefish, Kenneth Tailey and John Piccolomini. Funeral 1 p.m. Wednesday from the Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Larson officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday 7 to 9 p.m. on April 19, 1994.⁴
