Chuck was born January 13, 1962, in Christiansburg. He attended Salem High School and Virginia Western Community College. He is preceded in death by his mother, Joan Craighead Austin, of Shawsville; and grandmother, Ina Lily, of Beckley, W.Va. Surviving are his daughters, Amber Austin, of Nashville, Tenn., and Melissa Ewing Walker, of Roanoke; father and stepmother, Jack and Marilyn Austin; sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Bill StClair; the mother of his daughters, Kathy Austin Simmons; nieces and nephews. A celebration of Chuck's life will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Lotz Salem Chapel with Pastor Roger Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday, April 1, 2013, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Lotz Funeral Home Salem. on March 31, 2013.²

He is survived by his loving family, wife, Polly; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Will Angle; son and daughter-in-law, Trae and Shanan Willis; grandchildren, Morgan, Kendall and Tanner Willis, Tripp, Spencer and Grayson Angle; aunt and family, Irene W. Willis, Linda W. Bowles, Kristy Williamson, and Michael Bowles; mother-in-law, Virginia Dowell; numerous in-laws; nieces and nephews. A private service was held on January 1, 2010, with Pastor Tommy FiGart officiating. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Donald Steinweg, the staff of Gentle Shepherd Hospice for their outstanding loving care, as well as Simpson Funeral Home. He will be forever loved and greatly missed by his devoted wife, children and grandchildren. on January 7, 2010.²
