Born in Dublin, Va., he spent his youth in Pulaski County, graduated from Pulaski County Schools, attended Davidson and King Colleges, and graduated from East Tenn. State University. He received his BD degree from Vanderbuilt University. He served in the US Army for 5 1 / 2 years, having entered as a Private and retiring as a Major. His happy and optimistic personality made him a popular friend and neighbor to all he encountered. Most of his Army service was in India, where he learned to love and appreciate the people of that country. Henry's career was spent as a Methodist Minister having served churches in Tennessee from Nashville, to Chattanooga and Central, Fairlawn to Tazewell, Va., where he served as District Superintendent in Virginia. From 1985 to 1995 he served in Promotion and Development and as Chaplain of Birdmont Manor in Wytheville where he touched the lives of many senior citizens many of whom still love him. He was a son of Edgar and Addie Horton who preceded him in death, and also by Roy Horton, Elsie Horton Lachica, Delma Horton Flick. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Eileen Yeatts Horton of Dublin; two sons and daughters-in-law, Henry Roy and Carolyn Horton of Knoxville, Tenn., William Joseph Yeatts Horton of Dublin; five daughters and sons-in-law, Karen H. and John Guinn of Dandridge, Tenn., Ruth H. and Ralph Johnson of Collinsville, Cathy H. Price of Asheville, N.C., Susan H. and Jack Spencer of Black Mountain, N.C., and Lisa H. and Ricky Brown of Leicester, N.C; one brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Jean Horton of Miami, Fla; one sister and brother-in-law, Alma and John Howard of Shawsville; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 27, 2001 at 3 p.m. at the Dublin United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Travis and Randy Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the New Dublin Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Dublin. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Futures Committee of the Dublin United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2001 at the Dublin United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. on August 26, 2001.3

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and attended Providence United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Pauline Yates Clark of Stuart; one niece, Kay McMillon of Martinsville; and three nephews, Moir Page Clark of Independence and R. Kennon Clark and Glenn E. "Dud" Clark, both of Stuart. Funeral services were held Friday, June 29, 2007 at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor David Westmoreland officiating. Burial, with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans' Memorial Honor Guard, was in Stuart Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Collins, Nathan Biggs, Charles Vernon, Wesley Tatum, Walter Clark Jr. and Mike Pendleton.
