Surviving are her mother, Cigile Vest Martin; brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Angie Martin; nephew, Ryan Martin, of Wilmore, Ky; and niece and husband, Emily and Ben Andrews, of Nicholasville, Ky. Other survivors include a great-aunt, Agatha Austin, of Check, Va; aunts, Ethel Frances (Harold) Sheets, of Roanoke, Va., Chlorine Clower and Donna King, of Christiansburg, Va., Eloise (W. Wayne) Gearhart, Lena (Archie) McAlexander, Ocie (Dalton) Thompson, of Pilot, Va., and Jane Ernestine Nichols, of Roanoke, Va; uncles, Ernest (Connie) Martin, of Roanoke, Va., and Vernon (Sandra) Martin, of Little River, S.C; numerous cousins; and her little K-9 companion, "Nikki." Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. on May 20, 2009.7

He was a member of the Roanoke Amputee Network, who had been a second family to him. They all offered love and support during his illness. Good Samaritan Hospice was a god-send to him and our family during his last days. Born on December 18, 1929, she was the daughter of the late William David and Virgie Mae Mullins. She was the "chief cook and bottle washer" and also referred to as the "secretary of war" by her late husband, Walter F. Poff Sr. Barbara loved babies and faithfully served in the nursery ministry of New Life Christian Ministries. She spent her entire life using her "hands to serve and her heart to love." Barbara loved gardening and purple martins and spent her summers blessing family and friends with the fruits of her labor. Surviving are two sons, Walter F. Poff Jr., and David K. Poff and wife, Nancy, of Roanoke; two daughters, Ann P. Hall and husband, Larry, of Chesapeake, and Carole P. Stone and husband, Bryan, of Forest; grandchildren, Barb Fischer of Reston, Dannielle Hall-McIvor and husband, Jon, of Chesapeake, Zack Hall of Poquoson, Kelly S. Davenport and husband, Brian, of Lynchburg, Keri Stone of Sterling, and Franklin Poff of Bedford; a special granddaughter, Laura P Snyder and husband, Rob, of Gainesville; seven great-grandchildren, Alan Edwards, Lyndsey Casteel, Alex Fischer, Isaac Hall, Carys McIvor, Olivia and Cooper Jack Davenport; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Ewell, Glen, Ert and David Mullins; and three sisters, Christine Hoover, Ruth Beard, and Edith Sarver. A Celebration of Barbara's Life will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at Oakey's North Chapel. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Pastor Walter L. Wood Jr. will officiate with interment following at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
