Estile walked in the March of Dimes Walk-America for 10 years, and was awarded the oldest walker years through 1989 to 91. His life's work was being carpenter, building dozens of homes in the Valley and donating countless hours to his church. He bowled in a seniors league until the age of 90, and will best be remembered for his great sense of humor. "Pappaw" as he was known to his family, had an incredible positive attitude, Faith, and love for people and animals. Ercil had retired from Lowes Lumber and Hardware after 30 years of service, as well as the Virginia Department of Transportation after 20 years of faithful service. He was last working with Walmart of Salem as a greeter with 10 years of service. He thoroughly enjoyed traveling and hunting, but will be remembered most as a loving husband, brother, and friend to all that knew him! In addition to his parents, Ercil was preceded in death by his sister, Freda Louise Grubb.
