Evelyn Jermaine Harell Evelyn Harrell “Peachie” Martin, 70, of the Little Creek Community of Dublin, VA, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 15, 2018. She was born June 21, 1947 at Pearisburg, VA, the daughter of Russell David & Dorothy Price Harrell. She enjoyed singing and shopping. She was an ordained minister. She was a member of French's Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church and had a great love for her church and her Savior. She was preceded in death by her father, Russell David Harrell and step-father, Walter Eugene Harrell. Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Dorothy Price Harrell; her sons and daughter-in-law, William David, II. & Marjorie Martin and Patrick Steven Martin; her daughter & son-in-law, Becky & Chris Lytton; her grandchildren, Lindsey Martin, Rusty Martin, T.J. Hatcher, Brandon Lytton, Leslie Martin, Jordan Lytton and Logan Lytton; her great-grandchildren, Kaleb Sartin and Makinnah Martin; her brothers & sisters-in-law, Charles ("Buck") & Reba Harrell and Stephen & Brenda Harrell; her children's father, William David Martin; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Burial will follow in Eaton's Chapel Cemetery.2 She was buried at Eaton Chapel Cemetery, Staffordsville, Giles Co., Virginia.2 She was born on June 21, 1947 at Pearisburg, Giles Co., Virginia.2,3 As of August 4, 1964,her married name was Martin.1 She married William David Martin, son of Roy Glen Martin and Leuna Neice, on August 4, 1964 at Sparta, Alleghany Co., North Carolina.1 Evelyn Jermaine Harell and William David Martin were divorced on December 5, 1988 at Pulaski Co., Virginia.4 Evelyn Jermaine Harell died on March 15, 2018 at Virginia at age 70.2

He was employed as a Millwright at the Celanese Company Plant at Narrows. He attended the Riverview Baptist Church, Ripplemead, and was a veteran of the Narrows Volunteer Fire Department, having served 43 years in the department. During his years as a member of the Narrows Volunteer Fire Department, he held several offices within the company, the last being Captain. He was a member of the Virginia State Fireman's Association, the Southwest Virginia Fireman's Association, and the Giles County Fireman's Association. He is survived by his wife, Alice M. Blankenship; three sons, Robin O. Blankenship, Michael Albert, Pearisburg and Keith W. Blankenship and his wife, Charlene, Narrows; a daughter and her husband, Debbie and Lonnie Green, Narrows; three brothers, Donald Blankenship and his wife, Elsie Mae, Radford, Avery Blankenship and his wife, Patricia, Salem, Roger Blankenship, Winfield, W.Va; a sister, Rhodessa B. Riddle, Narrows; three grandchildren, Jessica Green, Katlyn Albert, Kayla Vaughn. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Narrows. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be members of the Narrows Volunteer Fire Department and member departments of the Giles County Fireman's Association. on February 3, 2002.3

He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy G. and Iris Richardson Moore, as well as his stepmother, Grace Moore Altice. Doug is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Gertrude W. Moore; his son and daughter-in-law, George D. Jr. and Christine Moore of Blacksburg; his daughter, Susan L. Clark of Salem; his daughter, Penny M. Robertson of Salem; his daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie M. and Gibby Porter of Berlin, Md; grandchildren, Jessica, Michael, Marc, Rick, Lisa, Elizabeth, Greg, and Julia; as well as five great-grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-law, Percy E. and Gail Moore of Roanoke; his sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn M. and Joe Arthur of Huddleson; and his aunt, Thelma Hunley of Elliston. Doug was blessed with a long and interesting journey through life. He was born in Roanoke and spent the better part of his life in the surrounding vicinity. In the late 1930's, he was the middle Golden Gloves boxing champion of Virginia. After serving proudly in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War I1, he began a long and fulfilling career with the Norfolk and Western Railway Co. that lasted until his retirement at 40 years of service. In his leisure time, Doug was an accomplished golfer and a true fan of the game. Doug developed a special relationship with Rev. Paul A. Campbell of the Wildhurst Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Roanoke, and the family wishes to express their gratitude to Rev. Campbell and other members of the church for their contributions to Doug's spiritual guidance and comfort. A special thank you is offered to Bill (Buck) Doss of Salem. Buck was a good friend and buddy to Doug for more than 30 years. Gertrude would like to express her thanks to their granddaughter, Jessica, for her help with her grandfather's care during his time at home. On occasions too numerous to mention, the Salem Rescue Squad has provided outstanding care and compassion to Doug and his family during his illness. on March 21, 2004.2
