He attended Fieldale-Collinsville High School, served in the Army National Guard and was employed at Nationwide Homes. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Burke E. Light and H. Claude Baliles. Surviving in addition to his parents are a daughter, Kaitlyn Nicole Wickham of the home; a sister, April D. Wickham of Collinsville; and grandparents, Frank D. and Mozelle H. Wickham of Collinsville, Jay L. and Antionette L. Parks of Martinsville and Fred J. and Rachel D. Foley of Martinsville. He was a graduate of Obion County Central High School, married his high school sweetheart, and put down roots in Troy, TN. Buddy was employed by Reelfoot Meat Packing Company, Goodyear Tire Company, and Story Sawmill. He spent many years as a volunteer commentator for OCCHS sports programs and was also dedicated to his church, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, #2, serving in a variety of roles, including deacon and Sunday School teacher.
Mr. Buddy was known for his love of old time western memorabilia and movies. He was also passionate about music, and shared his love of singing with his son, Huey. Burial will follow in Campground Cemetery, Troy. Pallbearers will be Doug Brewer, Roy Griffith, Tony Daniel, Don Bailey, Tim Walker, and Mike Clark. Mr. Buddy was born on July 31, 1944 in Clinchco, VA, son of the late Ray and Mary Wirt. He married the former Zelmarie Huey on May 9, 1964, She survives. He is also survived by two sons and his daughter-in-law, Huey Wirt, and Rusty (Sherri) Wirt; son-in-law, Randall (Jean) Barker; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Worth, TX, her father & mother-in-law, Clifford and Patsy Barker. on October 17, 1999.³
