Eric was born in Radford on September 30, 1964. Eric was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Donald L. Wiltsee and Josephine Groseclose Wiltsee; his maternal grandparents, Clarence Bishop and Maxine Howery Bishop; and his uncle, Ronald Bishop. Eric is survived by his daughter, Alexandra Marie Wiltsee; his mother, Lynda Bishop Nelson and husband, Kenneth; father, Charles S. Wiltsee and wife, Sarah, of Danville, Ky; brothers, Kevin Wiltsee and wife, Crystal, of Radford, Christopher Emery and wife, Monica, of San Diego, Calif. and Shannon Emery, of Silver Springs, Md; and sisters, Ashley Nelson, of Christiansburg, Lisa Norton and husband, Wayne, of Dallas, Texas, and Beth Lawrence and husband, Larry of Burnet, Texas; aunt, Norma Howery Balling; as well as several nieces. Eric is also survived by many friends, including his former wife and mother of his daughter, Alex, as well as business associates. Eric graduated from Christiansburg High School and attended NRCC. He was the proud owner of Car Force, located between Christiansburg and Blacksburg. There will be a graveside service at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. on August 9, 2013.²

     Kathryn M. Balling was born on February 25, 1953 at Wilmington, New Castle Co., Delaware.^1,3 She died on September 11, 2014 at Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., Minnesota, at age 61.^1,3 She Balling, Kathryn M., age 61,died on September 11, 2014 at North Residential Hospice in Brooklyn Center of stage IV lung cancer. Having been diagnosed in 2010, she put up a long and courageous fight and was an inspiration to many. Kathy was born on February 25, 1953 in Delaware to Frank & Norma Balling. She was a Registered Nurse, graduating in 1973 from RSJC. She received her degree in Range Conservation from ASU in Tempe. She moved to Bozeman, Montana to work for the Forest Service. Several years later she returned to Minnesota to continue her nursing career, working for the last 11 years at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. Her proudest accomplishment was her beautiful daughter Anna. She was an amazing mother, always working to better Anna’s life and provide opportunities for her. Kathy loved to travel and visit her friends in Washington State. She never hesitated to help a neighbor or volunteer. Kathy loved life and lived it to the fullest. She had many close friends and family members. She had a great perspective, insight and was always compassionate towards others. Kathy was always giving of herself. Even after death, donating her body to the University of Minnesota Medical School. Kathy was preceded in death by her father Frank Balling. Survived by mother Norma Balling, daughter Anna Gifford, sister Brenda Balling, sister-in-law Suk Cha and nephews, Victor and Ben Balling. She will be dearly missed by her lifelong friend and author of this remembrance, Mary Kay Viering, as well as many other great friends and colleagues. on September 14, 2014.³

     Lila Moneta Turner was born circa 1916 at Moneta, Bedford Co., Virginia.¹ As of September 30, 1939,her married name was Pickett.¹ She married Clarence Elmer Pickett on September 30, 1939 at Starkey, Roanoke Co., Virginia.¹ Lila Moneta Turner and Clarence Elmer Pickett were divorced on March 2, 1951 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.⁵ As of July 6, 1951,her married name was Miller.¹ Lila Moneta Turner married Douglas Eugene Miller on July 6, 1951 at Roanoke, Virginia.^2,1 Lila Moneta Turner died on October 25, 2003 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.^2,6 She MILLER, Lila Moneta Turner, 86, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2003. She was the widow of Douglas E. Miller and a member of VFW Post #1264. Surviving is her son, Norris Miller of Roanoke. on October 26, 2003.²

Pickett, 72, of Rt. Roanoke, died Monday in Roanoke hospital. He was a retired employe of American Viscose. Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Effie Kilgore, Miss Nellie Pickett, Mrs. Pearl Garner, Mrs. Gertie Hopper, Roanoke; two brothers, Albert L. Pickett, Harless D. Pickett, Roanoke.      William Alfred "Willie" Garnand was born on December 30, 1899 at Roanoke, Virginia.^3,4 He married Mildred Katherine Turner, daughter of William Lester Turner and Harriett Clyde Strickler, on April 3, 1945 at Duval Co., Florida.^1,2 William Alfred "Willie" Garnand died on September 11, 1948 at Brunswick, Glynn Co., Georgia, at age 48.^2,5 He William Alfred Garnand, 48, of Brunswick, Ga., formerly of Roanoke, died in a hospital there Saturday morning. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Kathleen Turner Garnand of Brunswick; two daughters, Mrs. Mecedes Licklider, Bladensburg, Md; Mrs. Nina Crowder, Buncombe County, N. C; three brothers, J. F. Garnand, J. L. Garnand and L. A. Garnand, all of Roanoke County. Funeral service will be conducted at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. on September 13, 1948.²

He was a retired engineer at N&W Railway; a Air Force veteran, WW II and the Korean Conflict; a member of V.F.W. Post No. 1264; a member of Lakeland Lodge No. 190 AF & AM. He is survived by his wife, Lila M. Miller; one son, Norris G. Miller, Roanoke; two sisters, Mrs. Nadine M. Shepherd, Philadelphia, Pa; Mrs. Janice M. Snow, Vinton; two brothers, Raudolph Miller, A.K. Miller, both of Vinton. Burial will be at Fair View Cemetery with Masonic graveside services by Lakeland Lodge No. 190. on March 28, 1983.⁸

     Vincent George Haislip was buried at Fair View Cemetery, 3300 Melrose Ave. N.W., Roanoke, Virginia.² He was born in July, 1911 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.² He married Mildred Katherine Turner, daughter of William Lester Turner and Harriett Clyde Strickler, on April 5, 1935 at Roanoke, Virginia.¹ Vincent George Haislip died on February 19, 1937 at Cave Spring, Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 25.^2,3 He Funeral services for Vincent G. Haislip, 25 of 714 Marshall avenue, S. W., who was fatally hurt in an automobile accident on the Bent Mountain road late Friday night, will be conducted this afternoon. Pallbearers will be: Jack Weaver, Vincent Wheeler, Bill Lavender, Jack Terry, Dence Parker, H. B. Grubb, P. E. Stanford, Wendell Griffith and A. P. Thurman. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Kathleen Haislip; his mother, Mrs. Mike Haislip, and five brothers and two sisters: Arthur, Mike, Howard, James and Eugene, and Mrs. Nannie Griffith and Mrs. Ralph Masterson, all of Cave Spring. on February 22, 1937.³

     Courtney Frank Cowling was buried at Waverly Cemetery, 248-252 Spring Branch Road, Waverly, Sussex Co., Virginia.³ He Courtney Frank Cowling, 22, of Waverly, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2008. Born January 18, 1985 in Richmond he was the son of Gurney Branch Cowling, Jr. and Polly Remorenko Cowling. Besides his parents, he is survived by three brothers, twin brother Carey Randal Cowling of Waverly, Shawn C. Cowling of Virginia Beach, and G. Branch Cowling, III, and his wife, L. Flynn Cowling, of Prince George; a nephew, Davis C. Cowling; maternal grandmother, Dorothy O. Remorenko of Gordonsville; paternal grandparents, G. B. Cowling, Sr. and Evelyn Cowling of Waverly; aunts, uncles, and extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his grandfather, F. M. Remorenko, Jr. He graduated from Tidewater Academy in 2003 and earned his B.A. in Economics as a 2007 graduate of Hampden-Sydney College. He was employed by Old Dominion Construction, Inc. of Smithfield. Courtney had a hobby of tinkering with "big toys," and he was a member of the Waverly Volunteer Fire Department. Interment will follow in the Waverly Cemetery.³ He was born on January 18, 1985 at Richmond, Virginia.³ He died on January 9, 2008 at Virginia at age 22.³
