He was born in Rome, GA, and raised on several different military bases around the country. He graduated from Bullis Prep School in Silver Spring, MD and did undergraduate studies at Berry College in Rome, GA. Greg was a decorated U.S. Army pilot serving during the Vietnam War and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was an avid yachtsman, fisherman, and accomplished equestrian. He was a member of the distinguished Mensa high IQ society. His parents, Wilson L. and Mildred L. Cook predeceased him. Survivors include his sister, Sandra L. Talbot (Wayne) of Gulfport, his brother, Wilson L. "Speedy" Cook Jr. (Diane) of Crawfordville, FL, and his life partner of 20 years, Susan Ricker of Indian Rocks Beach. on August 9, 2016.3

     George Ellem Trent Sr. George Ellem Trent Sr., age 77 of Sevierville, TN, formerly of West Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2020. He was heroic to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He led by example in every aspect of his life. He was a devout Christian, a faithful and beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor, and friend. He did what most people aspire to do in their lives, which was to leave a legacy in this world. He was selfless, patient, kind, and an inspiration to many. His life experiences include being a coach, teacher, and captain of both the Northfork HS and Concord College basketball teams. He was also an avid WVU fan. He served as the last Warden of the WV Penitentiary in Moundsville and the first Warden of the new Mt. Olive Correctional Complex, however, the role he held closest to his heart was serving as a pastor for nearly 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvah Elwood and Lucy Mae Trent, brothers-in-law Donald Sizemore and John Kelly III, and sister-in-law Donna Cook. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Susan Gail Trent; son, George Ellem Trent Jr. and wife Laura; daughter, Kelli Suzanne Trent-Hacker and husband Greg; grandchildren Courtney Harman and husband Beau, Savanna Trent, Austin Trent, Skylar Trent and boyfriend, Austin Feeney; great grandchildren, Samuel Trenton and Kellan Gregory Hacker, and Ryker, Thayer, and Marek Harman. He leaves a loving sister, Rhumelle Sizemore, who was very proud of him, and her husband Ray Potter; special nieces, Lori Scott, Debra Green, and Melissa Clemons; and several great nieces and nephews. He spent his lifetime loving, laughing, and enjoying life with his high school sweetheart and his family.3 He was buried at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 3410 Coal Heritage Road, Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia.4 He was born on August 26, 1942 at McDowell Co., West Virginia.2,4 He married Susan Gail Kelly, daughter of John Martin Kelly Jr. and Alice Elizabeth Hundley, on August 24, 1963 at McDowell Co., West Virginia.1,2 George Ellem Trent Sr. died on June 16, 2020 at Sevierville, Sevier Co., Tennessee, at age 77.3

Edith was born November 13, 1918 in Germanton, NC to the late Charles and Laura Pointexter Merritt. She was a graduate of Germanton High School and was employed as an office manager in a physician's office for over 30 years in Forest Park, GA. Edith moved to Cary in 1991 to be near family. She attended First United Methodist Church in Cary. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Kelley Jr; daughters, Lorayne Kelley Bigham; and Nancy Kelley Sims; sisters, Mary Flynt; and Frankye Rutlan; and brothers, Robert and Bright Merritt. She is survived by her daughter, Jacque K. Davis and her husband, Boe of Cary; son-in-laws, Dick Bigham of Charlotte; and Paul Sims of Franklin, TN; 9 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
