     Eva Joyce Hall Eva Joyce Hall Ferguson, 82, of Princeton, WV, passed away Friday, February 12, 2021 at her home after an extended illness. She was born April 12, 1938 in Jenkinjones, WV to the late Dora Ethel Austin Hall Henley Lowe and Clarence Emett Hall. Joyce attended and was a member of Maple View Church of Christ. She was the former Owner/Operator of Joyce's Café in Bluefield, WV. She was an avid bowler at Mountaineer Bowling Lanes for many years and was a former board member at Princeton Community Hospital as well as a volunteer. She loved traveling, reading, and finding new places to eat. Joyce was our rock and a loving mother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Worley Henley; sister, Girlie Hicks; and one grandson, Jackie R. Hill, Jr. Joyce leaves behind her loving family that includes her children, Al Smith (Lisa) of Roanoke, VA, Dora Taylor (Willie) of Lexington, NC, Jenny Hines (Edward) of Pine Tops, NC, Jerry Smith (Glenda) of Hazzard, KY, and Joyce Stephenson (Timmy) of Princeton, WV; grandson, Isaac Starling whom she raised; sister, Pat Honaker of Montcalm, WV; and her companion, Hollis Sikes. Her greatest legacy will continue with 18 grandkids and 21 great-grandkids and one due in July. She leaves many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly along with many special friends from all walks of life. Joseph Edward Ferguson, 212 Jackson St., was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Bluefield Sanitarium at 2:55 a.m. According to police reports, Ferguson was driving west near Clay Street when he lost control of his 1975 Cadillac and it left the roadway, ran over an inclined bank and travelled 75 feet down the embankment where it rested on its top. Ferguson was pinned underneath the car and was reportedly killed instantly. There were no other passengers in the car, which was reported a total loss. He was owner and operator of Joyce’s Cafe in Bluefield. on May 17, 1975.⁴

He served in the US Army for four years and was in World World II and the Korean War. He was in the construction industry for most of his life in West Virginia before he and his wife moved to Louisiana where they have resided for 28 years.      Eddie Dean Shephard Eddie Dean Shephard, age 53, of 6004 Poole Road, Lot 1, Raleigh, North Carolina, formerly of Bluefield, died on Tuesday October 26, 2010 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Born on April 25, 1957 in Bluefield, he was a son of the late Charles Alexander and Martha Gladys Williams Shephard. He had lived in Raleigh for the past 22 years and was a maintenance supervisor for Drucker and Faulk Company in Raleigh. He loved the outdoors and especially loved fishing. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles Shephard and Susan Jane and Crutchfield Shephard Asbury; William Mack Williams and Margaret; Victory Shinault Williams; brothers, Charles Shephard (Jay) and Curtis Shephard; sister Juanita Shephard Turner.
