     Helen Foy Howard Helen Foy Howard Lawrence born February 10, 1934 in Elliston, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home In Riner, Virginia on Friday November 24, 2023 surrounded by family and her caregivers. She acquired the nickname, Henry as a child and always answered to it. She was preceded in death by her husband and soul mate of 67 years, Hubert Elwood Lawrence (2021). A 1950 graduate of Alleghany District High School. She worked many jobs but excelled as a bookkeeper. She was often Elwood's construction assistant. Helen and Elwood attended several churches and they both served in many roles. She is survived by son, Jimmy Lawrence; daughter-in-law, Peg Morse; daughter, Brenda Daugherty; son-in law, Wayne Daugherty; grandson, Kevin Fletcher (Kristina); great-grandsons, Conner and Evan Fletcher; nephews, Allen Howard, Robbie Howard and Niece Kathy Howard May; a special nephew, Howard McDaniel (Judy); grandnieces, Theresa and Karen; with many, many cousins, nephews and nieces. She is also survived by many church friends for over 50 years of church attendance. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Raby H. Howard and Mable Butt Howard, brothers John and Frank Howard, sisters Mary Alice McDaniel, Nellie Brown, nephews Jerry Brown, Bobby Howard, and Bill McDaniel. The family owes a very special thanks to caregivers, Tracey Murphy, Valarie Shealor, LaDonna Handy, Sequoia Shealor and Angy Belcher who became a part of the family. In lieu of flowers, Helen requested donations in her name to the Riner Rescue Squad. She was also the family chef who made the best enchiladas or macaroni and cheese. Her family and friends will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her life partner, Charles Gates; parents, Mason Clyburn and Mary Odum; brother, Chris Odum; and sister, Sandy Harris.      Linda Lee Joyce was buried at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.6,3 She Linda Lee Skaggs, 66, of Mullens passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Bowers Hospice House following a long illness. Born January 14, 1948 in Salem, VA, she was the daughter of the late James and Hazel Everetta (Deweese) Joyce. Linda was a homemaker and was a member of the Mullens Pentecostal Holiness Church where she was a song leader and Sunday school teacher. In her leisure she loved working crossword puzzles and taking care of her grandchildren. Those left to cherish her memory include her loving and devoted husband, Donald Skaggs of Mullens; one daughter, Stephanie Dawn Day and her husband, Daniel of Roanoke, VA; one son, Jason Leonard Skaggs of Beckley; five grandchildren, Curtis Day, Lucas Day, Mallory Day, Jessica Day, and Kaylea Skaggs; one brother, James Michael Joyce and his wife, Margaret of Mullens. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. Pallbearers will be Roger Whitt, Tim Cook, Eugene Keiser, Lewis Arnold, and Jerry David.3 Her married name was Skaggs.5 She married Donald E.
