Alice Elizabeth Novotny Alice Elizabeth Campbell, age 85, of Glendive, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2003 at the Glendive Medical Center in Glendive. Rite of Committal will be in the Dawson County Cemetery in Glendive. Alice was born on April 3, 1918 at her grandmothers home in Beach, North Dakota, the daughter of Joseph B. and Emma A. (Shafer) Novotny. She was raised and educated in Wibaux County and received her early education at the Yates rural country school. As a young woman, she worked for various families taking care of their homes and children. She moved to Spokane in the early 1940's where she met and married Francis L. Campbell in 1946. Alice and her husband made their home in Spokane and Idaho until their divorce in 1954 when Alice returned to Beach. Alice worked as a kitchen's helper and operated a day care. She moved to Glendive in 1966 and was the assistant manager of the Steffen's Apartments where she worked for 15 years. Alice cared for her mother from 1981 until 1983 when she moved into the Prairie West Apartments where she provided cleaning services and resided until the time of her death. Alice was very involved with volunteer work at the Glendive Medical Center Extended Care, Eastern Montana Veterans Home and the Attic. She was a member of the Glendive Medical Center Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters and the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Stedman and her husband Larry of Wibaux, Montana, Kathy Hegel and her husband Ed of Glendive; two brothers, Joe Novotny of San Diego, California and Ray Novotny and his wife Margie of Glendive; one sister, Emma Jean Bartholomew of Glendive; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.2 She was buried at Dawson County Cemetery, Glendive, Dawson Co., Montana.5,2,3 Her Social Security Number was 516-16-2361.3,4 She was born on April 3, 1918 at Beach, Golden Valley Co., North Dakota.2,3,4 As of August 20, 1946,her married name was Campbell.1 She married Francis Leo "Dick" Campbell, son of Edward Louis Campbell and Verdilla Jane Baker, on August 20, 1946 at Spokane, Spokane Co., Washington.1,2 Alice Elizabeth Novotny and Francis Leo "Dick" Campbell were divorced in 1954.2 Alice Elizabeth Novotny died on November 23, 2003 at Glendive, Dawson Co., Montana, at age 85.2,3,4,6

He was born March 12, 1942, at Orofino, to Dee Willoughby and Verna Prewitt Arthur. Chuck attended schools in Weippe, Orofino, Kamiah and Craigmont. On Dec. 5, 1966, he married Carol Huddleston in Lewiston. Throughout their married life, Chuck and Carol lived in Kamiah, Weippe and finally settled in Lapwai. Chuck was a truck driver most of his life, working for various logging companies and chip-truck firms, including Excel Transport from 1980 to 2004. He enjoyed seven years of retirement. His enjoyment in life was mushrooming, camping and four-wheeling. Chuck's special place to camp was the Orogrande on the North Fork of Clearwater River. He is survived by his wife Carol of Lapwai; sisters Susan Merrell of Culdesac and Cathy Leach of Silver Springs, Nev; brothers Ron Willoughby of Lewiston, Gary Willoughby of Salisbury, N.C., and Dan Arthur of Kamiah; stepfather Ike Arthur of Clarkston; grandchildren Amber Arnett of Lewiston and Brad Graves of Spokane; and many nieces and nephews. Chuck was preceded in death by his daughter Crystal, and by his parents Dee and Verna Arthur. A graveside service will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Orofino. A special thank-you must go out to Dr. Gerardo Midence and the nurses at the cancer center, and the third-floor nurses at SJRMC. Thank you for the fine care you gave Chuck during his illness. Also, a thank-you to Chuck's many special friends who called and came out to his house, with loving care and concern: Marty Ellsworth, Bill Thorton, Verlon Alford, Marvin Watts, Tyson Watts, Tom Weatherly and Norm Huddleston. We love and will miss you, Chuck, from your family and friends. on April 7, 2011.4
