He workedfor Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. for 43 years, retiring in 1980. Until the day he became ill, he worked for Leisure Time Recreation in Stow, where he had been employed for 17 years. Preceded in death by his father and mother, Napoleon and Adele Paradis; brothers, Roger and Marcel; and grandson, Sean Spence, Ron is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Elaine; daughter, Denise (Robert) McGee; stepson, David Laube; grandchildren, Joy (Joshua) Griffith and Brandon McGee; great- grandchildren, Aiden and Alison Griffith. Also surviving are sisters Jeanette Crook, Florence Short, and Rose (Ray) Woxen; brothers, Kenneth (MaryJo), Gerald (Connie), and Robert (Gloria); and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Interment at Northlawn Cemetery. on December 8, 2001.7

He was a truck driver for Consolidated Freightways (Richfield Ohio terminal) until retiring in 1978 after 23 years of service. After retirement he drove for Pocono Mountain Trails and Pocono Limousine. Murlyn was a past member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1106 in Stroudsburg and the C.L.U. Club in East Stroudsburg.      John Francis Spence On October 18, 2020, John “Jay” Francis Spence of Akron, Ohio, departed his earthly body and became present with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a valiant battle with cancer. He was 67 years old. Jay passed from this life surrounded by his closest family and was never alone. Jay handled death as he handled life, Steadfast and Fearless, Seasoned with Grace and Faith, and Eyes fixed Fervently on his Savior! Jay was born October 26, 1952 in Akron, Ohio to the late Christine (nee Harshbarger) and George Pavick. Jay was then adopted at a young age by his late father, Stanley Spence. He was the youngest boy of six children. Jay was a graduate of Kenmore High School, Class of 1970. Jay served in the Air Force from 1976-1980, where he received Airman of the Year at the Air Force Academy in 1979 and a Good Conduct Medal. He honorably discharged as a Sergeant. He worked as a computer programmer, following his Air Force commitment until he came to work, alongside his daughter and son-in-law in 2008 and worked tirelessly until his retirement in 2019. Jay was a member of The Chapel in Green where he enjoyed his time with his ABF and was in love with the time spent and the people in his choir family. Other than his parents, Jay was preceded by his son, Sean; and half-sister, Lynn Pavick. Survivors include his daughter, Joy (Joshua) Griffith; his grandchildren, Aiden, Aaron, Alison and Autumn Griffith. Also surviving are his siblings, George (Jan), Larry (Mary), Judith (Brooks) Gray, Anna (Ted) Callas, Sheree (Joy) McGuinness; and half-sisters, Yvonne Hulton, and Colleen Pavick.
