Harold Wayne Harvey married Jane Ann Nichols.1 Harold Wayne Harvey was born on October 2, 1946 at Adrian, Lenawee Co., Michigan.1,2 He died on December 19, 2017 at South Bend, St. Joseph Co., Indiana, at age 71.1,2 He Just before the advent of a beautiful, sun-filled northern Indiana morning, Harold Wayne Harvey passed away at Memorial Hospital in the company of those he deeply loved. The date will always be December 19, 2017, when marking his death, though a man such as this defies the stigma of facts and dates. Wayne, a man of wildly ranging talents, was, at one point or another, a soldier, singer, song-writer, documentarist, playwright, videographer, plaster-repair man, coach, teacher, lover, and, most of all, he was a legendary son, brother, friend, husband, life-partner, uncle, grandfather, and, of course, father. Born on October 2, 1946, in Adrian, Michigan, to Harold Haynes Harvey and Eleanor Irene Wilshire, Wayne took all of what life gave him and always kept striving for more. After graduating from Mishawaka High School in 1966, Wayne served enthusiastically in the United States Army and fought for his country in the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he fell in love with Jane Ann Nichols and, soon after, brought their beautiful daughter, Jennifer Lynn Harvey, into the world. All the while, Wayne achieved a bachelor's degree from Indiana University South Bend and used what he learned from the psychology courses he took to feed his limitless capacity for empathy. Just about the time he was preparing to send his daughter to New York University, an accomplishment that only increased in magnitude as the years went by, he and Jane had another remarkable child in the form of a boy: Matthew Wayne Harvey. And, while Wayne had many accomplishments, his two children stood head and shoulders above all else in what made him feel most worthy of this life. Through his daughter's marriage, Wayne also gained another veritable son in Justin, a friend as much as anything else. And, through Jennifer and Justin, Wayne had the love and pleasure of grandfathering three extraordinary children in Henry, Isaac, and Natalie. Later on, and most recently, Wayne nurtured a new family with Robin Nickerson and her beautiful children, Ben, Karlye, and Sabrina. They were a treasure in Wayne's life, filling his days with fun, walks, love, parties, and togetherness up until his last seconds on Earth. They brought him a wealth of love and comfort in times he needed it most, and, to no one's surprise, he brought this family a lifetime's worth of love in return. Forever, they will miss him sweetly and dearly. Wayne was also blessed with an incredible and absolutely inimitable family of sisters, brothers, aunties, and uncles, and all of his nieces and nephews, each being his “favorite.” You know who you are. on December 22, 2017.1
