Box 55-A (Montcalm), Rock, was dead on arrival Thursday, September 1, 1994, at a Princeton hospital. Born in Mercer County, he was a son of the late James Matthew and Arite Eureka Wood Beggs. He had been a resident of Montcalm most of his life and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in World War II. He was a retired coal miner. He was preceded in death by one son, Steven Beggs; one granddaughter; one sister, Juanita Parker, and two brothers, Charlie Beggs and Matthew Beggs. Survivors: friend, Pauline Rose of Rock; daughters, Mrs. Larry (Elaine) Duncan of Bluewell and Judy Hampton and Mrs. Kenneth (Alisha) Stanley, both of Lexington, N.C; brother, Fred Beggs of Montcalm; sisters, Vada Beggs, Eunice Duncan and Mrs. Cletus (Elizabeth) Mabe, all of Montcalm, Roberta Holmes of Elyria, Ohio, and Nawasa Minnix and Mrs. Bob (Eva) Perkins, both of Princeton; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Burial will be at the Beggs Family Cemetery in Windmill Gap. on September 3, 1994.2
