     Susie Ann Elizabeth Deuell Susie Ann Johnson, 81, native and lifelong Newport News resident, died on Friday, March 25, 2022. She was one of ten children born to the late Jesse and Annie Deuell. Susie was an active member of Bethel Temple Church until her health prevented her from attending. She had a big heart for helping others and loved to work crossword puzzles. Survivors include her two sons, Randy Johnson and Tim Johnson (Jennifer); one sister Virginia DeBerry; two brothers, James Deuell and Tommy Deuell (Tina); four grandchildren; and extended family and friends.³ She was born on September 12, 1940 at Newport News, Virginia.^1,2 As of October 7, 1961,her married name was Johnson.⁴ She married Kenneth Nelson Johnson, son of Nelson Silas Johnson and Ruth Frances Farmer, on October 7, 1961 at Pasquotank Co., North Carolina.⁴ Susie Ann Elizabeth Deuell and Kenneth Nelson Johnson were divorced on June 2, 1987 at Newport News, Virginia.¹ Susie Ann Elizabeth Deuell died on March 25, 2022 at Newport News, Virginia, at age 81.³

     Emma Lee Craddock was buried at Midway Baptist Church Cemetery, Gretna, Pittsylvania Co., Virginia.³ She Emma Craddock Johnson, age 72 of Gretna died Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born May 5, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Harry Lee Craddock, Jr. and Emma Harris Craddock. She was predeceased by daughter-in-law, Michelle Johnson. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Midway Baptist Church, where she was very active and was a retired real estate broker with Aaron W. Johnson Auction and Realty. She enjoyed flowers and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Emma was devoted, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Aaron W. Johnson of the residence; two sons, Kirk Johnson and wife, Lynne of Moneta and Brian Johnson of Charlottesville; one brother, Dennis Craddock and wife, Faye of Henderson, N.C; one sister, Sandra Craddock and husband, Doug of Gretna; and four grandchildren, Ashley Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Ally Johnson, and Will Johnson. Funeral services will be conducted at Midway Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.³ She was born on May 5, 1944 at San Luis Obispo Co., California.^2,3 As of June 15, 1963,her married name was Johnson.¹ She married Aaron Wallace Johnson, son of Nelson Silas Johnson and Ruth Frances Farmer, on June 15, 1963 at Pittsylvania Co., Virginia.^1,3 Emma Lee Craddock died on July 19, 2016 at Lynchburg, Virginia, at age 72.³

Emerson; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; ten step grandchildren; ten step great-grandchildren.⁴ Her married name was Emerson.⁹ She married James Mack Emerson.^9,4 Ruby Lucille Owen married Henry Breckenridge Paris.^8,4 Ruby Lucille Owen was born on May 24, 1918 at Callands, Pittsylvania Co., Virginia.^2,6 As of November 28, 1935,her married name was Roberts.³ She married Lester Roberts on November 28, 1935 at Danville, Virginia.³ Ruby Lucille Owen died on November 18, 2008 at Maryland at age 90.⁶

     James Mack Emerson EMERSON, J. Mack - On Monday, May 14, 1962 at Providence Hospital, J. Mack Emerson, beloved husband of Ruby O. Emerson, father of Mrs. Elaine E. De Vol, James O. and Michael M. Emerson; brother of Colen and Rupert Emerson, Mrs. Clara Wilson and Mrs. Geneva Reasons. He also is survived by two grandchildren.      Henry Breckenridge Paris Henry B. Paris, 86, a retired resident manager of the Watergate East who had lived in Washington from 1938 to 1966, died of cancer Feb. 26 at his home in St. Augustine, Fla. Mr. Paris, who was born in Georgia, attended LaSalle University. He was a manager in Washington at the Carlton Hotel from 1938 to 1947, the Wardman Park from 1947 to 1951, the Woodner from 1951 to 1961 and the Watergate in 1965 and 1966. From 1961 to 1965, he was sales and promotion manager with the Homestead in Hot Springs, Va.
His first wife, Evelyn Paris, died in 1959. Survivors include his wife, the former Ruby Owen, of St. Augustine; five children by his first marriage, Henry Jr., of Reston, Charles David Paris of Olney, Sabra Smith of Columbia, Suzanne Coble of Memphis and Elizabeth Bissett of Gaithersburg; and three stepchildren, Elaine DeVol of Washington, James Emerson of Millersville, Md., and Mike Emerson of St. Augustine.³ His Social Security Number was 234-07-3092.⁴ He was buried at Evergreen Cemetery, 505 North Rodriguez Street, St. Augustine, St. Johns Co., Florida.⁵ He married Ruby Lucille Owen, daughter of Charles Columbus “Charlie” Owen and Beulah Brown Pickrel.^3,6 Henry Breckenridge Paris was born on October 7, 1905 at Alpharetta, Fulton Co., Georgia.^1,2,4 He died on February 26, 1992 at St. Augustine, St. Johns Co., Florida, at age 86.^2,4,3

Emerson and the late Elaine Emerson DeVol, loving son-in-law, brother-in-law, nephew, cousin, uncle and friend. Born in Washington, DC; and moved to St. Augustine, FL, when 10 years old; found his perfect soulmate in St. Louis, MO. He was a founding member of the Inn Association of St. Augustine. FL; had renovated and opened the Old Powder House Inn there. Also a founding member of the Associated Bed Breakfast Inns of Ste. Genevieve, MO. As an artist and businessman, he renovated and rebuilt the historic Inn St. Gemme Beauvais (c.1848) in Ste. Genevieve. on April 18, 1998.³
