Born on February 16, 1941, in Princeton, WV, he was the son of the late Guy A. and Agnes Collins Palmer. Mr. Palmer retired from the Merchant Marines, having worked on a ship for Getty Oil. He was the former owner of BJ's Pub (now Jokers) in Elkton. Mr. Palmer was an active member of Elkton Presbyterian Church, where he served as an usher. He was a member and past president of the Elkton Jaycees. Mr. Palmer enjoyed being with his family, especially his great-grandchildren. An avid Baltimore Ravens and Orioles fan, he enjoyed watching westerns on the Encore Channel. Survivors include his children, Jerry A. Palmer, Jr., Wilmington, DE, and Dawn D. Hawkins, Elkton, MD; grandchildren, Jennifer Hawkins and Jeffrey Hawkins; great-grandchildren, Jaden and Peyton Ohrt; and brothers, Jack Palmer, Pearland, TX, and Richard Palmer, Newark, DE. In addition to his parents, Mr. Palmer was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Moore. Interment will follow the service in Cherry Hill Methodist Cemetery, Cherry Hill, MD. on August 9, 2011.³

A native of Hagerstown, Md., Mr. Via was a retired operator for Norfolk and Western Railroad with 30 years service. He was predeceased by a son, Everett Eugene Via Jr. Survivors include his wife, June M. Via of Chesapeake; a daughter, Terri Jarrell of Chesapeake; a son, Michael R. Via of Chesapeake; a sister, Patsy D. Tenbusch of Harbor Beach, Mich; a brother, Victor L. Via of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. on October 24, 1996.⁷

     Patsy Delores Via Patsy Delores (Via) Tenbusch, age 88, went to be with the Lord on December 30, 2018. She was born on September 5, 1930 in Hagerstown, Maryland to Churchill and Pauline (Palmer) Via. She had two brothers, Everett and Victor. Surviving are her children, Melvin Tenbusch, Jr. and Angela (Kevin) Tiedje, grandchildren Joel Tenbusch, Corey Tenbusch, Sean Wicks, Shannon Card, Jessica Tenbusch, Lauren Tiedje, Melissa Tiedje, Kyle Tiedje and great-grandchildren Alec Tenbusch, Gavin Tenbusch, Kiley Russell, Mia Tenbusch, Dylan Tenbusch, and Alana Tenbusch. She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin, her son Ronald, her brothers Everett and Victor, and her parents. Patsy grew up in Princeton, West Virginia; she moved around a lot as a child but here she spent her youth. Her grandparents operated a county poor farm where she spent many summers with her many cousins. She reminisced often of her wonderful grandparents and great fun with her cousins. Witnessing a poor farm in the height of the great depression imprinted lasting memories of hardships effect on people, creating in her a beautiful and compassionate spirit. When she was about fourteen her family moved to Norfolk, Virginia, residing across from the bustling naval base. Having been raised in the rural hills of West Virginia, this was quite the change. The large public high school was a difficult transition as most of her classmates were from prosperous military families. It was at the navy pool however, that she met her husband, Melvin— apparently our father liked to show off on the diving board! They dated and were married on June 12, 1948 in North Carolina. They lived in Virginia until 1968 when they moved up to our father’s hometown of Harbor Beach, MI in search of a quieter lifestyle and better paying job. Patsy loved the cooler temperatures of the Harbor Beach summers near the lake. Despite living far away from her family in Virginia, she always said that the move was where God intended her to be. After raising her three children she started working part-time sitting with Dr. Oaks’ ailing elderly wife. This led to many jobs caring for the elderly which she was aptly suited having such a serving, giving nature. She so enjoyed being a caregiver. Eventually she attended classes and learned more about nursing and received a certification. She served her Lord as she served her fellow man. Patsy was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church where she often prepared the Sacrament. She loved the Lord with all of her heart which is evident with the many notes found in her well-worn bible. Patsy loved flowers and gardening and always had a beautiful flower display in her yard. She loved children; nothing made her happier than being around them and was a wonderful grandmother. Her grandchildren have many loving memories of staying at “Gammy’s beachhouse” in the summers. Having been raised in the South, Patsy was a wonderful southern cook. She loved to do for others; nothing pleased her more than to prepare a nice meal! Her sweet tea will remain unsurpassed for generations! Patsy carried an infectious joy that made everyone gravitate to her. She had a silly, playful side and was always happy. Her outlook on life was passed on to many—her greatest legacy. In the last nine months of her life she suffered from Alzheimer’s. It was extremely difficult to see her personality and love of life taken away. She is no longer suffering and is in heaven rejoicing with her Lord and Savior. She often said how she couldn’t wait to hug Jesus. She made it clear to us how thankful she was for her life and how blessed she was. We were all blessed to have had her in our lives.³ She was born on September 5, 1930 at Hagerstown, Washington Co., Maryland.³ As of June 12, 1948,her married name was Tenbusch.⁶ She married Melvin Francis Tenbusch on June 12, 1948 at Elizabeth City, Pasquotank Co., North Carolina.^6,2,3 Patsy Delores Via died on December 30, 2018 at Michigan at age 88.³

     Victor Lee Via was buried at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk, Virginia.⁴ His Social Security Number was 230-46-2869.⁵ He was born on October 21, 1938 at Athens, Mercer Co., West Virginia.^3,4,5 He married Barbara Jean Dicken on September 7, 1959 at Norfolk, Virginia.³ Victor Lee Via died on October 31, 2005 at Virginia Beach, Virginia, at age 67.^4,5,8,6 He The life of Victor L. Via, 67, ended after a long and courageous battle with cancer at Sentara Virginia Beach Hospital Oct. 31, 2005. He was born in Athens, W.Va., Oct. 21, 1938, and was the son of the late Churchill and Pauline Palmer Via. His older brother, Everett Via, also preceded him in death. Devoted to his family, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 46 years, Barbara; a son, Victor L. Via II "Skip" of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Deborah Cressel and her husband Elvis of Virginia Beach and Kathleen Thomas and her husband Justin of Midlothian, Va; three grandchildren, Christopher Randall, Jenna Thomas and David Thomas; a sister, Pat Tenbusch of Harbor Beach, Mich; a great-aunt, Ruth Tyree of Hampton, Va; and cousins, nieces and nephews. Vic graduated from Granby High School in 1957, where he was a member of the swim team and a champion diver, competing at William and Mary University. He attended the University of Texas while proudly serving in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Texas, Mississippi and England before settling in Virginia Beach. After the military, he returned to work as the office manager for his former employer, James Davenport, who founded Supreme Appliance Service in 1947. He was dedicated to the company for 45 years. While attending high school, he swept floors and learned his trade as a technician by watching, listening and asking questions. He eventually became owner and president of Supreme and Wholesale Parts Distributors for 28 years. In the past years, he was on the Board of Directors of Appliance Parts Distributors Association, Board of Directors of United Servicers Association, treasurer for Appliance Refrigeration Parts and served on Whirlpool Corporation Service Advisory Board. The enormous void his passing has left in our hearts will be filled with the love he so freely gave to us, the life lessons he taught us, the laughter he caused us to share and the wonderful memories we will embrace always. His dignified life exemplified strength and integrity. Vic was the epitome of what a man should be, filled with compassion. The family wishes to thank each of you for the outpouring of love shown during this time and over all the years of his illness, for your cards of support, notes of encouragement, phone calls, e-mails, flowers, scriptures that comforted us and most importantly, your heartfelt prayers that lifted our spirits. You have been an important part of his life and we would be honored to have you share with us your memories of him by way of note cards provided before the service. Tenbusch, age 65, of Harbor Beach passed away Monday, September 26, 1994 at his home following a short illness. Born September 3, 1929 in Harbor Beach to the late Frank and Grace (Schorsch) Tenbusch. He and Patsey Via were married June 12, 1948 in Elizabeth City, NC. Mr. Tenbusch is veteran of WW II serving in the US Navy. He is a retired employee of Active Industries after 26 years, retiring in 1985. Member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church, Harbor Beach Lions Club and Knights of Pithius. Surviving are his wife Patsey Tenbusch of Harbor Beach, daughter, Mrs. Kevin (Angela) Tiedje of Farmington Hills, 2 sons, Melvin (Linda) Tenbusch Jr. of Lapeer and Ronald (Kelly) Tenbusch of Sterling Heights. Five grandchildren.      Michael Ray Via Michael Ray Via, 48 years of age, of the Bronston, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday, April 28th, 2013 at his residence. Michael was born on March 17th, 1965 in Northfolk Virginia, son of the late Everett Sr. and June Simmons Via. He was a Christian and enjoyed playing music and listening to music. He enjoyed people, company dropping by and spending time with his family. Michael was survived by his caregiver and loving sister, Tyresa Lynn Jarrell of Bronston, Kentucky; two aunts, Patsy Tenbusch of Michigan and Barbara Via of Virginia; two nieces, Crystal Wenz of Somerset, Kentucky and Stacey Mead of North Carolina; one nephew, Kevin Wayne (and his wife, Candice) Jarrell of Somerset, Kentucky; two great nieces, Kara Wenz and Kaleigh Jarrell; three great nephews, Cameron Wenz, Caden Jarrell, and Caleb Jarrell; three special friends, Jimmy Hall, Jason Robertson, and Jim Jarrell; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.
