Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Daniel and Charles Moneymaker, both of Virginia; a daughter, Lisa Moneymaker-Rutt of Luray; and a sister, Caroline Mentzer of Stafford. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Gary and Phillip Moneymaker; and two sisters, Linda Wright and Beverly Moneymaker. She was a long-time resident of Manassas City. She loved music as well as time spent with family and friends. A highlight of her short life was a day at the beach with friends. She is survived by two sisters, Carolyn Sue Mentzer and Karen Jane Mullins, a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles Aylor and Irene Elizabeth Carroll Moneymaker; siblings, Virginia Moneymaker, Charles Moneymaker, Jr., Joseph Moneymaker, Gary Moneymaker, Linda Wright and Phillip Moneymaker. Gordon Massie Purvis, 60, of Arrington, went to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on Dec. 7, 1952, he was a son of the late Tom Atlee and Sarah Crist Purvis, of Lovingston. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Virginia Mae "Sissy" Purvis; two daughters, Kelley Woodson (Clint) and Misty Purvis (Bryan); two grandsons, Hunter Woodson and Chase Ferguson; a brother, Kenny Purvis (Vanessa); two nieces, Christy Viar and Katie Harshman (Zane); two nephews, Michael Purvis (Tammy) and Ricky Marrs Jr; sister-in-laws, Martha Marrs (Ricky) and Doris Stinson (Gary); and father-in-law Robert Lyon and mother-in-law Arlene Lyon. Gordon lived life to its fullest and touched the lives of many, which can be seen through his countless number of friends. He enjoyed making his rounds to socialize and enjoy the beautiful views of Nelson County that he loved so much. His one-of-a-kind personality made you fall in love with him with just one conversation and his witty humor kept you laughing for hours even after he had left. Gordon was a remarkably amazing husband and father that was heavily devoted to taking care of his family. He showered them with love and affection every chance he could, especially his "girls."
Gordon was employed by and retired from Verizon. He was very dedicated to his job and served as a cable splicer and maintenance worker for 30 years. Gordon enjoyed his retirement by spending time with his family and friends that he adored so much. Interment will follow in the Mt.
