     Carl Channing Newcomb was buried at Godwin Cemetery, Fincastle, Botetourt Co., Virginia.2 He Carl Channing Newcomb, 58, passed away at his home on June 4, 2022 due to a tragic accident. Carl was born April 13, 1964 to his parents Richard and Sue Bordeaux Newcomb. He was raised in Roanoke, Virginia and graduated from Northside High School. Carl later graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1986 with a Bachelor's degree in Business. While there, he was a member of the ROTC and continued to obtain the rank of Captain in the Army Reserve. Carl is survived by his parents; his older siblings Susan Awilda Connor, Richard Madison Newcomb, Gloria Jill Newcomb Brown, and Keith Lyle Newcomb; his younger siblings Chris Elliot Newcomb, and Beverly Kay Moore, and his son Preston Madison Newcomb. Carl was a man who felt God’s love and followed his faith in everything he did. He was a generous and caring person to everyone he met. He was a member of Laurel Hill Baptist church where he greeted the members every Sunday, enjoyed fellowship, and helped with church projects. Carl was a loving father who enjoyed time with his son who shared his interest in auto repair. A private burial with full military honors will be held at Godwin Cemetery Fincastle, VA.2 He was born on April 13, 1964 at Giles Co., Virginia.2,3,4 He married Elizabeth Anne Wildey on February 11, 1990 at Hampton, Virginia.4 Carl Channing Newcomb married Amber Lee Purdy on January 2, 2010 at Albemarle Co., Virginia.4 Carl Channing Newcomb died on June 4, 2022 at Virginia at age 58.2

     Richard Madison Newcomb Jr. was buried at Pleasant Dale Memorial Park, 3732 Breckenridge Mill Road, Fincastle, Botetourt Co., Virginia.3 He Richard Madison Newcomb Jr., age 64 of Botetourt, passed away at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital Sunday, November 20, 2022 from complications of a stroke. Richard was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina October 30, 1958 and lived in Botetourt since 1995. He was the son of Richard M. Newcomb Sr. and the late Mary Sue Bordeaux Newcomb. Richard was employed with Rowe Furniture (Salem Frame) for 38 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his vegetable garden. In addition to his mother, Richard was preceded in death by his brother Carl Newcomb and step-son, David Denny. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Daisy Barger Newcomb; brothers: Chris (Michelle) Newcomb, Keith L. Newcomb of California; sisters: Beverly K. Moore, Susan N. (Dean) Connor, and Gloria Newcomb Brown (Lance Brown); friends: Shaun McBrayer, Eric Daniels, Tom Wilkerson, Carol Keith, Dale Reynolds, Mary and Sheldon Horne, and Sandra Clarkson. A committal service will be at Pleasant Dale Memorial Park.3 He was born on October 30, 1958 at Fayetteville, Cumberland Co., North Carolina.3 He married Daisy Barger circa 1996.3 Richard Madison Newcomb Jr. died on November 20, 2022 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 64.3

Mr. Elmore was a well-known pioneer farmer of this section. He spent his entire life in this area and was well known. He was born November 21, 1876, near Princeton, the son of the late S. W. and Phoebe Taylor Elmore. Mr. Elmore's wife preceded him in death in 1940. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Billie Whittaker of near Oakvale; Mrs. Tony Swim of Princeton; Mrs. C. A. White of Northfork; Mrs. George Goin of Bramwell; Wade Lee Elmore of Oakvale; and Clarence H. and Joe Elmore, both of Bluefield. Mr. Elmore is also survived by the following the following brothers and sisters: George Elmore, Grover Elmore and Bert Elmore all of Princeton; Wade Elmore of Oakvale; and Mrs. B. F. Palmer of Hinton. The deceased was a member of the Mt. Horeb Methodist church and the IOOF. Mr. Elmore’s death cane unexpectedly. He had read the afternoon paper just prior to being rushed to the hospital where he died shortly after arival. on June 29, 1949.4

Binford of Bluefield-Princeton Road and Mrs. Woodrow Simms of Charleston; two sons, Sterling L. and Ray A. Oney of Princeton; five grandchildren and one greatgrandchild; three sisters, Mrs. John Hedrick, Mrs. Thomas Hedrick and Mrs. Clarence Swimm of Princeton; four brothers, Roy T., Bernard and Dale Elmore of Princeton and Clarence C. Elmore of Charleston. on October 24, 1963.4

Hedrick of Princeton, Mrs. A. A. Oney of Charleston, Mrs. Clarence Swim of Princeton, and Mrs. Thomas Hedrick of Athens; five brothers, Irvin, Roy, Dale, Bernard, and Clarence C. Elmore of Princeton; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers: T. R. Jewell, Mack Swim, H. J. Thompson, Tate Lohr, Max Greer, and J. M. Okes. Members of the Rosemary Huff Group of the church will carry flowers. on January 13, 1961.5
