A lifetime resident of this community, she was a graduate of Falling Spring High School, Class of 1939. During her working career, Doodle had been employed by Westvaco and Industrial Rayon before becoming a full-time homemaker. She was a member of Emory United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Crowder is survived by her two grandchildren, Misty Piatt and Sarah Sudduth; her sister, Shirley “Boo” Defibaugh Crowder; her nephew, Michael Crowder and wife, Cindy of Hot Springs; and a special niece, Lauren Crowder of Roanoke. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Crowder was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Piatt; her brother, Lloyd Franklin Defibaugh; and her sister, Josephine Defibaugh Kellem. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Emory United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Waldo Avenue Restoration Branch. Mrs. Piatt was preceded in death by her father, Theodore Crowder. She is survived by her husband, Garry D. Piatt of the home; mother, Jaunetia Crowder of Hot Springs, VA; three daughters, Cyndi Piatt-Pugliese and husband, Gene of Acworth, GA, Misty R. Piatt and Sarah E. Piatt of Grain Valley, MO, and one son, Garry D. Piatt II and wife Chris of Snellvllle, GA; and six grandchildren, Amber, Hannah, Rachael and Garion Piatt, Alsling and Gabriel Pugliese. on August 15, 2002.²
