Jimmy was a former coal miner, and was a retired fireman for the City of Sophia Fire Department, the Coal City Volunteer Fire Department, and helped begin the Handley Fire Department. He served for a brief period on the Army National Guard. His survivors include his wife of 17 years, Sandra Cole Furrow, his mother, Velma Ruth Furrow Douglas of Pemberton, three sisters, Linda Acord and her husband Dallas of Bolt, Judy Pennington and her husband Bill of Caycee, SC, and Pat Piercy and her husband Roberk of Beckley. Two step brothers, Roy Douglas of Maple Fork, and Danny Douglas of Stanfield, NC. A step sister, Polly Middleton of Monroe, Michigan. Many nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews also survive. Jimmy loved his family and he had a great passion as a firefighter and as a first responder due to his deep care and concern for others. Jimmy attended the Church of God at Coal City. She was the daughter of the late Gordon Lawrence Cole and Thelma D. Wood-Cole. She was preceded in death by her husband James W. Furrow, two brothers, David C. and Randy W. Cole, two sisters, Carol J. Cole and Dala Rogers. Survivors include one sister, Donna Dangerfield (David), and one sister-in- law, Susan Coyne, and nine nieces and nephews. Sandra was a member of Coal City Church of God.² She was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5250 Robert Centre Byrd Drive, Prosperity, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.³ She was born on January 12, 1949 at Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.² As of circa 1995,her married name was Cole-Furrow.¹ She married James William "Jimmie" Furrow, son of Jessie Louis Furrow Jr. and Velma Ruth Barnes, circa 1995.^1,2 Sandra Cole died on August 7, 2022 at Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia, at age 73.²

She cared for many people in her career at Bethany Hospital, Deaconess, & Kindred, though her greatest passion was loving God and her family. She adored her husband, loved books, her grandkids, church, and all things bright and beautiful. She had a wonderful wit and loved to laugh. Carolyn passed away peacefully on January 27, 2017 and is survived by her husband, James; son, Seth and Elizabeth and their children Megan and Cameron, daughter, Sarah and Stephen Riley and their children Jonathan, Benjamin, Micah, and Gabriel, and a host of extended family and friends. Interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. on January 31, 2017.¹
