Born November 8, 1946 in Basin he was the son of the late Hollie McKinney and Lucy Jane Mills McKinney. Denver was a 1966 graduate of Mullens High School and Pineville Vo Tech Center. He loved the Lord and was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Princeton. He was a certified welder and heavy equipment operator and retired from Eastern Associated Coal Company of Herndon. He was member of UMWA and Monroe County Coon Hunters Association. He is now riding his favorite horse, Stardust, and hunting his favorite dogs, White Eye and Lucky, in the mountains of Heaven. He loved all of his family dearly and will be missed by everyone who knew him. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Lynne McKinney; brothers, Alvin, Alfred and Calvin McKinney; sister, Loraine Mills and daughter-in-law, Teresa Gearhart McKinney; nephew, Joseph Paul Mills, Jr. Survivors include the love of his life and wife of 50 years, Linda Skeens McKinney; son, Ronnie McKinney of Lashmeet; former daughter-in-law, Sandra Powell McKinney of Lashmeet; seven grandchildren, Steven McKinney of Knoxville, TN, Dustin McKinney and fiancé Tara Gaydon of Matoaka, Haylee McKinney and Sierra Cook of Matoaka, Kayla Powell of Lashmeet, Ronnie McKinney, Jr. of Lashmeet and Holly McKinney of Princeton; great grandchildren, Kirra McKinney of Princeton the light of his life, and all the other special great grandchildren, Zachary, Addison and Marcus Fortner all of Lashmeet and their father, Seth Fortner; Taylor and Cameron Jones of Tulsa, OK and a baby boy due in June; sister-in-law Judy McKinney of Hickory, NC; nieces and nephews, Teresa Felger, Alvin McKinney, Jr., Cindy Monk, Sandy Mills, Richard McKinney, Laura McKinney, Melissa Gay and Tony Walker; special friends, Tasha Boswell, Ray Skeens, Ronnie Lusk, Cliff Edwards and Frankie Mills; his special fur babies, cat Twinkie and horse, Spook. Keep riding into the sunset we will be watching you until we meet again. A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 19. 2020 at the Mitchell-McKinney Cemetery at Peaks Ridge with Rev. Ronald Booher officiating. on April 17, 2020.2

     Irvin Daniel Hines Irvin Daniel Hines, (Mr Dan, PaPa Dan, The Bus Man Dan) 66, of Westview Street in Narrows, departed this life Thursday evening, December 29, 2016 at Lewis-Gale Montgomery Hospital in Blacksburg, VA after a short illness. Born in Lindside, WV on February 27, 1950 he was a son of Irvin Ruble and Ethadean Thompson Hines of Lindside, WV. He was baptized and attended Bethel Chapel at Clendennin. Dan was known far and wide for his voice as an auctioneer when he ,with his wife, operated Colonial Auction Co. and Nationwide Moving Co. for over 40 years. He also was a hit with the children on his bus; for 14 years he drove a Giles County School Bus in Narrows. Dan’s greatest joy was gathering up his family and taking a camping trip up to Lake Sherwood in WV and romping with the children and his special dog Baby Girl. He leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, his devoted wife and business partner Brenda I. Hines; his son Jarod Hines of Christiansburg; his daughters and sons-in-law Donna McKinney Ralph and Bill of Narrows, Jennifer Patteson and Robby of Narrows (Wolf Creek); his brother and sister-in-law Michael and Ruth Ann Hines of Lindside, his sister and brother-in-law Robin and David Thomas of Memphis, TN; his grandchildren Zachary Patteson (Rachael), Tyler Evans (Hannah), Landon Patteson, Brady Patteson, Morgan Ralph, Liam Ralph; his great-grandchildren Colten Wade Patteson and Emalyn Evans, his brother-in-law and his son Gary and Austin Byrd; and his many special nieces and nephews.2 He was born on February 27, 1950 at Lindside, Monroe Co., West Virginia.1,2 He married Sarena Gaye Poole, daughter of Willard Daniel Poole and Phyllis Marie Skeens, on March 5, 1985 at Bluefield, Tazewell Co., Virginia.1 Irvin Daniel Hines died on December 29, 2016 at Blacksburg, Virginia, at age 66.2
