Born on July 12, 1957, in Welch, W.Va., he was the son of Velma Ruth Barnes Furrow Douglas of Pemberton and the late Jesse Louis Furrow Jr. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jackie Edward Furrow and Robert Lee Douglas. He was also preceded in death by his step father Roy J. Douglas, whom he loved dearly. Jimmy was a former coal miner, and was a retired fireman for the City of Sophia Fire Department, the Coal City Volunteer Fire Department, and helped begin the Handley Fire Department. He served for a brief period on the Army National Guard. His survivors include his wife of 17 years, Sandra Cole Furrow, his mother, Velma Ruth Furrow Douglas of Pemberton, three sisters, Linda Acord and her husband Dallas of Bolt, Judy Pennington and her husband Bill of Caycee, SC, and Pat Piercy and her husband Roberk of Beckley. Two step brothers, Roy Douglas of Maple Fork, and Danny Douglas of Stanfield, NC. A step sister, Polly Middleton of Monroe, Michigan. Many nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews also survive. Jimmy loved his family and he had a great passion as a firefighter and as a first responder due to his deep care and concern for others. Jimmy attended the Church of God at Coal City. Interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. on January 31, 2017.1
