Born June 14, 1942 in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Lulabea Blankenship Alvis. Shirley was a graduate of Athens High School in Athens and worked for the State of Ohio as a nurse's aide. Shirley will be remembered for her great fellowship with her neighbors and community and was greatly loved by her friends and health care providers. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Gypsie Hall and Jean Conner and brothers, Samuel Alvis Jr. and Richard J. Alvis. Survivors: Husband, Harold Q. Meadows; daughter, Pamela Meadows of Northfield, Ohio; son, Tim Higginbotham of Avon Lake, Ohio; grandchildren, Heather (Nate) Hampton of Ravenna, Ohio, Zoe Higginbotham of Avon Lake, Ohio; sister, Betty Egbert of Newton Falls, Ohio. Born March 3, 1943, in Bluefield, she was the daughter of the late Steve Harodanick and Elizabeth Rose Peery Carinelli. Anna was a graduate of Bluefield High School, Class of 1961. Anna had worked for Mercer County Board of Education as a cook for many years, retiring from Melrose Elementary School. She was a member of Johnston Chapel Baptist Church in Princeton. Anna loved bowling and enjoyed the members of her bowling teams, having participated with leagues in Bluefield and Green Valley. Anna was a very creative and artistic, whether it was with her hands or her mind, she loved putting things together for her family to appreciate. Anna was an avid gardner, always having beautiful flowers in her yard and garden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Tony Carinelli. Surviving are her children, Michael Gregory Smith, Rhonda Ann Thomas and husband Scott all of Princeton. Five grandchildren Tamala, Gregory, Heather, Chasen and Nicholas; Two Great Grandchildren Khamrin and Dhestyn; Four Siblings Michele Barnett and husband Clifford of Sherrills Ford, NC; Angel James and husband Joe Jeanneine Jones, and husband Gary Tony Carinelli and wife Pam, all of Bluefield; And a host of nieces, nephews and her extended family. Burial will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield VA.      Charles Victor Webster Sr. Charles Victor Webster, Sr., 86, of Salem, passed away peacefully January 10, 2018 surrounded by his family and friends. Having suffered for years with C.O.P.D., he courageously fought his final battle with this disease. He was predeceased by his wife, MaryLou Fisher Burton Webster and is survived by his children: Charles V. Webster, Jr., Paula W. Amrhein (Russ), and Michael David Webster (Faye). Grandchildren: Charles V. Webster III, John Webster, Kayla Webster, Jacquelyn A. Sells, Chadwick S. Amrhein, 6 great grandchildren and many dear loyal friends from his Salem Moose Lodge and the Salem Brookdale Senior Living facility. Charles was a very proud and strong-willed person. He was extremely proud of “his” Salem, Virginia and thought the sun rose and set in his hometown. Charles was born January 25, 1931 and loved his Andrew Lewis High School and Roanoke College. During the Korean conflict, he served in the United States Army as a Cryptographer. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad and then retired once again in 2017 from his second job at Amrhein’s Jewelers. Charles was honored to be a member of the Taylor Lodge 23 in Salem. His family would like to thank his wonderful medical team for all the years they dedicated to making Charles as comfortable as possible. Charles could always be heard repeating his favorite saying, “Salem born, Salem bred and when I die I’ll be Salem dead”. His love of all things Salem was unwavering.3 He was buried at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 5070 Cove Road N.
