She is survived by her fiancee, Frank Taylor of Galesburg. Local survivors include: her father and stepmother, John and Barbara J. Knox of Fort Madison; a brother, John Knox Jr. of Denmark; two sisters, Kari Knox of Fort Madison and Julie Atkins of Wilton; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, a sister and an infant brother. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Denmark. on February 19, 2007.3

Born Feb. 10, 1969, in Fort Madison, she was the daughter of John and Barbara Haendler Knox Sr. Ms. Knox worked as a secretary at Denmark Elementary School, formerly worked at Shopko/Jacks and was a worker at chicken night at the Knights of Columbus. She was a 1987 graduate of Fort Madison High School and earned an associate degree at Southeastern Community College. She coached her daughter's softball team in Denmark. She enjoyed crafts, antiques, tubing on the river, swimming, cruising around and singing to the radio. Survivors include one daughter, Emmalynn Clair Hampton-Knox, at home; one brother, John Knox Jr. of Denmark; one sister, Julie Atkins of Wilton; and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and one sister. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, rural Fort Madison.3 She was buried at Fairview Cemetery, Lee Co., Iowa.2,3 She was born on February 10, 1969 at Fort Madison, Lee Co., Iowa.2,3 She died on April 19, 2009 at Ankany, Polk Co., Iowa, at age 40.2,3

Mr. Prufer was born in Staunton on Feb. 1, 1898 a son of Charles and Minnie Christine (Thomas) Prufer. He was educated in the Staunton public schools and had spent his entire life in Staunton. Mr. Prufer was a past president and chairman of the board of Clifton Forge-Waynesboro Telephone Co. and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. He served as secretary of the Augusta County Board of Supervisors for years before accepting a postition with the Clifton Forge-Waynesboro Telephone Co. and as such was a highly praised county executive. His civic and religious services included terms as trustee and treasurer of King's Daughters' Hospital during its fund-raising and building project in 1949-51, and president of the Board of the Lutheran Children's Home of the South, in Salem. He also served a term on the Staunton City Council, declining to run for re-election because of pressure of other interests. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Fay Thornton Prufer; a son Frederick Thomas Prufer Jr., of Washington; a daughter, Miss Nancy Elizabeth Prufer, at home; a sister, Miss Minnie L. Prufer of Staunton, and one grandson. A graveside funeral service was held this morning, at 11 o'clock in Thornrose Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Donald R. Stonesifer, pastor of Christ Lutheran Church, the Rev. Thomas P. Bailey, pastor of Faith Lutheran Church and Father Robert Sokolowski. on September 2, 1969.3

A committal service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday in Thornrose Cemetery by Monsignor Robert Sokolowski. on March 29, 1993.4
