Mr. Lightle died Wednesday in Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie. He was born in Monroe Township and graduated from Jefferson Township High School and Ball State. He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired in 1965 from Van Buren High School (now Eastbrook Community Schools) after 16 years of employment, including several years as assistant principal. He also had taught at Bluffton and Adams Central before moving to Van Buren. Mr. Lightle also retired in 1982 from the U.S. Postal Service after 18 years of employment, and he had owned and operated Lightle Trailer Park since 1964. He was a member of the Arcana Lodge 427, F&AM, and American Legion Post 138, and he had been a trustee for Jefferson Cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Frances Lightle; a daughter, Lois Bragg (husband: Cliff); a son William Lightle (wife: Vera); two sisters, Ona Bonewit and Elizabeth Sloderbeck (husband: Bud); five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Two sisters and a brother are deceased. on August 29, 1997.⁵

He is survived by one son — Russell with whom he lived. He also leaves a sister, a brother and several nephews and nieces. The funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10:30 o’clock at the Friends church in Shirley and burial was made at the Harlan cemetery. on February 17, 1922.⁴

Farlow, a former resident and farmer in the Shirley community was killed early this week in Florida, according to word which friends here have received. Farlow had been living in Tampa, Fla. for the past several months selling his interest of farming implements and cattle at public sale in this community. The officer who investigated the accident said that a car driven by Charles Bexley rammed into a car being driven by Farlow. Farlow's car was thrown 75 feet by the impact. Three persons in the Bexley car were treated for injuries. Both cars were a total loss. After leaving the Shirley community Farlow purchased an interest in a tavern in Florida but at the time of his death he was working as a helper on a Lake Magdalene turkey ranch. on January 5, 1954.⁵

Survivors include the husband, Russell Farlow; two brothers, Hobart O'Kelley of Charlottesville, and Clarence O. O'Kelley, of Anderson. Burial in Harlan cemetery. on July 27, 1948.² She died on July 27, 1948 at Shirley, Hancock Co., Indiana.²
