He was preceded in death by his brother, Clyde Elmore and a sister, Norma Statzer. CSM Elmore is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Ella H. Kuhn Elmore; three daughters, Lilli B. Toney of Virginia City, Nev., Eileen Rogers and husband, Chuck of Dundalk, Md. and JoAnn Wattles and husband, Jim of Rock Springs; two brothers, Fred Elmore and wife, Alice of Auborndale, Fla. and Joe Thomas Elmore and wife, Loretta of Sweeneysburg; four sisters, Nellie Davis and husband, Earnest of Maple Fork, Alma Crouse of Grandview, Betty Lilly and husband, Howard of Mount Hope and Phyllis Putman and husband, Mike of Mount Hope; and six grandchildren, Ryan and Andrea Toney, Chad and Lisa Rogers, Caleb and Neoma Wattles. Betty had served on the Mount Hope City Council and had served as the building inspector for the city. She was active with the Central Appalachian Empowerment Zone and was an advocate for the Black Lung Association. She was involved in many charitable contributions and works for the betterment of the community. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lilly, Jr. on May 28, 2010; a daughter, Twyla Lilly Brown; three brothers, Johnny, Freddie and Frankie Elmore; one sister, Norma Statzer. She is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Elmore Putnam of Mount Hope; one son, John H. Lilly and wife, Frances of LaPorte, Texas; a special friend, Tom McClanahan of Piney View; five grandchildren, Chad Brown, Ashley Brown, Michael Elmore, Gabrielle Green and Ian Putnam; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Alma Lee Crouse of Grandview and Nellie Jane Davis of Maple Fork; one brother, Joe Thomas Elmore, Sweeneysburg. A life member of Newport VFW Post 3943 Ladies Auxiliary, she had served as Sr. Vice President, she was also a life member of Moose Lodge 884, Monroe, and the Eagles Aerie 1503, Monroe. Shirley enjoyed fishing, baking, golfing, bowling, playing pool, sewing and going to casinos. Surviving are sons, Clyde (Candy) Elmore of Hazel Park, Bill (Marie) Elmore of Newport, step-sons, David (Martha) Guilford of MO and Tim Guilford of WA, daughters, Nancy (Steve) Collins of Detroit, Mary (Ray) Bogdanski of Newport, Rhonda (Bob) Brna of Riverview, Roxanne (Dan) Raymond of Monroe, step-daughter, Carole Fernandez of AZ, brothers, Dan Caldwell of OH, Elmer Caldwell and Bill Caldwell of NH, sisters, Helen Richardson and Mary Sue Minor, both of WV. Fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Joseph Elmore, brothers, Bob, Jesse and John Albert Caldwell, sisters, Ethel Fuller and Maude (Jean) Mengaris. on October 25, 2007.3
