Nichols, 52, of near Lincoln, who died July 30 at her home after a long Illness. Mrs. Nichols, a nurses aide at the Lewes Convalescent Center, was presented a citation in 1964 by the Delaware Safety Council for pushing several children out of the way of an oncoming car while serving as a school crossing guard near her former home in Collins Park. She was brushed by the car which she realized wouldn't be able to stop in time. She is survived by her husband, Nelson W. Nichols Sr; four sons, Roger Breeding of North Carolina, Nelson W. Jr. of Greenwood, and William L. and Robert L., both of New Castle; four daughters, Alma Seward of Smyrna, Margaret Rhoat of Florida, Virginia DeVincentis of Greenwood and Midred Miller ot Lincoln; Her mother, Margaret Riccio of Wilmington; a brother, Collins C. Shaw of New Jersey; and 20 grandchildren. Interment was in St. Johnstown Cemetery in Greenwood. on August 7, 1975.¹

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Otareta Nichols. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, January 21, in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. on January 19, 2011.³
