A native of Rossville, Ga., she was born Dec. 7, 1916, to Thomas and Ada (Logan) Pettitt, one of six children. Martha moved to Homosassa 33 years ago from Lathrup Village, Mich. Her working years as a lifelong homemaker also included positions with O'Connor Studios and National Bank of Detroit as well as the days she worked in her father's business, Pettitt's Candy Factory of Windsor, Ontario. She was a member of the Homosassa Church of God and is survived by her daughter, Susan Hollandsworth, Pleasanton, Calif; stepdaughters, Barbara Koenigsmark, Sacramento, Calif., and Joy Koenigsmark VanLeur, Frasier, Colo; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Harry (1996) and her five siblings, Bessie, Lillian, Bill, Sally and Walter. Friends will be received 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, where a funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Entombment will follow at Fountains Memorial Park, Homosassa. on January 11, 2014.³

Maness of Columbus, Jay Maness of Port Huron, LeeAnn Russum of Fraser and Jeff Hamilton of Kalamazoo; three great-grandchildren, Amy and Donie Maness and Ashley Nichol Russum; four brothers, Eugene Winters of Cincinnati, Ohio, Ralph Winters of Haines City, Fla., Herbert Winters of Florida, and William Winters of Winterhaven, Fla; three sisters, Mildred Williams of Flint and Betty McNea and Hildred Dingess, both of Winterhaven; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Winters and a sister, Lois. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Arthur Smith Funeral Homes-North Chapel. The Rev. Walter Pettitt and the Rev. Charles King will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Blythe, Robert Sheffer, James Hameck, Don Wilton, Bill Forbes and George Heath. on October 12, 1987.⁵
