Daniel Earl "Dan" Griswold was buried at Witt Cemetery #1, Rockbridge, Greene Co., Illinois.3,2 He Daniel E. "Dan" Griswold, 49, of rural Rockbridge,IL died Monday, September 3, 2007 in rural Eldred, IL. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and grandpa. He had many friends whom he loved to visit and spend time with. Dan was born January 19, 1958 in Carrollton, the son of James E. "Everett" and Carole Kinser Griswold. He married his high school sweetheart, Suzann Morrow, on September 6, 1981 and she survives. In addition to his mother, Dan is survived by a daughter, Vanessa (husband) Chris Sheppard or Crestview, Florida; two sons: Jim Griswold of Maryville, MO and Tom Griswold at home; a grandson, Cayden Sheppard (19 months); a brother, David (wife, Holly) Griswold of Franklin, Tennessee; and twin nieces, Madison and Sharayah Griswold also of Franklin, Tennessee. Dan was preceded in death by his father, paternal grandparents, Ernest and Margaret (King) Griswold; maternal grandparents, Lynn and Norma (Jackson) Kinser; a paternal uncle, William Griswold; a maternal uncle, Dr. Robert Kinser and a maternal great-uncle, Elmer Jackson. Dan grew up living on a farm in rural Rockbridge where his family was grain and hog farmers. He was a 1976 graduate of Greenfield High School. He was an outstanding athlete; participating in wrestling, baseball, and football, being named All-Conference Linebacker and Defensive MVP and was the recipient of the senior male athletic award and the DAR Citizenship award. Dan also played the tuba in the school band. He was a long-time, active member of the Greene County 4-H. For several summers Dan showed a full string of Yorkshire hogs at local county fairs which earned him the reputation of "knowing the hog business". He attended Illinois State University to study agriculture. In the fall of 1979, Dan decided to return home where he partnered with his father to farm and raise hogs. Dan was an active volunteer for the Greenfield Youth League, holding the office of treasurer for several years. He coached the baseball team his son, Tom, played on beginning with T-Ball. Dan was very proud of his three children and his son-in-law, Chris, and the accomplishments they have made. He tried to instill in his children a "good work ethic" that what's worth doing, is worth doing it right. A few years ago he began teaching his sons the construction trade of which they have now completed several home remodeling jobs -- knowledge they will be able to use for a lifetime. Dan was probably the most proud of his grandson, Cayden, and the joy that he has brought to the whole family. Casket Bearers will be Chuck Schirz, Jay Schirz, Greg Griswold, Jon Wright, Jeff Wright, Tim Wright, Bob Hall, and Jimmy White. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Larry White, Jim Armold, and Gary Bridgewater. David Otey Campbell was born on June 6, 1950 at Manhattan, New York Co., New York.1 He married Cynthia J. "Cindy" Meglaughlin in September, 1972 at Westfield, Union Co., New Jersey.2 David Otey Campbell died on September 11, 2001 at Manhattan, New York Co., New York, at age 51.1 He David Otey Campbell of Basking Ridge liked to credit his teammates for supporting him in the years he swam for Westfield High School and Rutgers University in New Brunswick. An accomplished breast-stroker, tennis player and golfer, Mr. Campbell nonetheless endured good-natured teasing from his teenage sons, who chided him for not participating in a more "macho" sport. The 51-year-old Mr. Campbell, who worked for Keefe, Bruyette and Woods as a senior vice president of equity sales, took the 5:35 a.m. train from Basking Ridge into Manhattan on Sept. 11. Like a number of other New Jersey residents who worked at the World Trade Center, he did not come home that evening. "The boys play ice hockey and lacrosse and they would tease him," said Mr. Campbell's wife of 29 years, Cindy. "He would tell them his sport (swimming) was the only one that could save your life." Mr. Campbell was born in New York City and grew up in Westfield, although he lived for about three years with his family in Venezuela. When they returned to the United States, the family settled in Westfield, where Mr. Campbell met his future wife. "It had to be in junior high school," she said. "We were all part of a big group and would trade boyfriends and girlfriends." From Westfield High, he went to Rutgers, where he graduated in 1972 with a degree in economics. He received an MBA in accounting from Rutgers-Newark. Mr. Campbell worked for Keefe, Bruyette and Woods for the past 15 years. Before that, he worked for Deloitte and Touche for 12 or 13 years. Mr. Campbell was active in Basking Ridge community affairs. He was treasurer of the Somerset Hills Soccer Club for a number of years before taking over as president of the Ice Hockey Boosters for the Delbarton School, where his sons, Chip, 18, and Timmy, 16, attend high school. "He was a sideline parent who taught his kids to play golf. He had been saying in the last couple of years that his kids were shooting in the 70s and 80s while he was still in the 90s," said his wife. He was an active parishioner and volunteer at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Basking Ridge. Since the Twin Towers disaster, Cindy Campbell said Westfield friends from their earliest days as well as the Delbarton community and family members have been at their side. "We have the deepest thanks to give to our friends and family," she said, adding her husband's commitment to those very same individuals is something for which he will always be loved and remembered. In addition to his wife and sons, Mr. Campbell is survived by his parents, Jane and Bev Campbell of Tampa, Fla., and two sisters, Mary Ann Anthony of Westfield and Barbara Jean McKee of Memphis, Tenn. on September 21, 2001.1
