She was born on November 14, 1918 in Bedford County a daughter of the late James Smith Tomlinson and Lola Reynolds Tomlinson. In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her loving husband, Samuel Oscar Wilkes; four brothers, Edward Tomlinson, Smiley Tomlinson, Sr., Frank Tomlinson, Preston Tomlinson; and five sisters, Lillie T. Hudson, Lucy T. Bulis, Annie T. Ogden, Floy T. Staton and Hazel T. Arrington. Lois was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lynchburg and Order of The Eastern Star. She loved her church where she worked in the nursery and also played in the bell choir. She loved reading and spending time with her family and friends. She also had a tremendous love for children. Lois is survived by a sister-in-law, Lois T. Knight of Lynchburg; two special nieces, Judith A. Layne and husband, O. Preston of Bedford and Jane O. Fields and her husband, Warren "Winkie" of Forest; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Burial followed in Spring Hill Cemetery. on January 9, 2013.1

She was graduated from Three Rivers (Michigan) High School, and had lived in Niles for many years, moving to Ohio in 2008. She was employed for many years at the former Cavalier Color in Niles, and then at Circle Camera at University Park Mall in Granger, Indiana. Betty was formerly an active parishioner at Saint Mark Catholic Church, and then at Saint Mary Catholic Church. She was a founding member of the Niles Garden Club, and a member of the Niles Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi for more than twenty years. She enjoyed photography, maintaining a dark room at home for many years. She also enjoyed painting and crafts, but her greatest love was her family who remember her strength and spirit, and the love they received from her. On January 27, 1951, she married Robert J. Langendonk, who preceded her in death on June 21, 1966. Later, on May 20, 1978, she married Robert E. Kyle, who preceded her in death on July 24, 2006. Surviving family includes her children, James (& Darlene) Langendonk of Slidell, Louisiana, Linda (& Wayne) O'Brien of Liberty Township, Ohio, Susan (& Fred Barton) Langendonk of Laingsburg, Michigan, and David (& Karen) Langendonk of Saint Joseph, Michigan; stepdaughters, Linda (& Mike) Andrews of Niles, Terri (& Larry) Brusky of Niles and Susan (& Paul) Stephan of Tennessee; grandchildren, Mary Sue (& David) Slack, Jami, Jennifer and Nicole Langendonk, Robert O'Brien, Brian and Stephanie Langendonk; great-grandchildren, Emma Rose, Trevor, Kaylie and Mason; Betty's sister, Mary Coleman of Niles, brother, Robert (& Pat) Frame of Niles, and many nieces and nephews. on January 19, 2014.1

Varier, aged 50, a lifelong resident of St. Joseph county, shot himself through the head with a German Lueger revolver Saturday afternoon and died instantly. His body was found by Mrs. Edward Hosler, his landlady, and and James Varier, his son, who heard the shot and went into the house to investigate. The house is on the Ivy road in Clay township, east of the University of Notre Dame. Coroner H. J. Bolka was summoned. He was told that Mr. Varier, a truck driver, had been divorced several years ago. The coroner indicated he would return a verdict of suicide prompted by despondency over poor health. Mr. Varier was born in North Liberty, this county, Feb 27, 1883. Surviving also are his mother, Mrs. Frances Varier, South Bend, a son, Lawrence, who recently returned to South Ben from from Los Angeles, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Edith Holland, South Bend. The funeral will take place from the home of the mother, 1228 King street, at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon. Rev. Daniel G. Dunkin, pastor of Calvary Baptist church, will officiate and burial will be in North Liberty cemetery. on September 10, 1933.6

City lodge No. 36 Cyrus chapter, R. A. M. Okla. Commandery Knights Templar No. 3, Guthrie Consistory and India Temple A. A. O. N. M. S. Funeral services in charge of Guthrie Consisitory will be held in Harding Hall, with services at the grave in charge of Okla. City Lodge No. 36, also escort of Knights Templara, Saturday, Nov. 12, 1932 at 2 p.m., Rev . John Abernathy, officiating. Burial, Rose Hill.3 He was born on April 2, 1871 at Minouk, Woodford Co., Illinois.1 He married Hannah Grace Poff, daughter of John Poff and Hannah Shephard, on January 16, 1907 at St. Joseph Co., Indiana.1 Orin Albert Bassett died on November 10, 1932 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co., Oklahoma, at age 61.3
