Graveside services for Johnny McGhee will be conducted in the Elizabeth Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by Saltville V.F.W. post 7328. Jamie Puckett, Tommy Roe, Bradley Harper, Justin Harper, Gordon Carter, Ray Hunt, Billy Prater Jr. and Butch Kestner will serve as pallbearers. A special thank you to the nursing staff at Smyth County Community Hospital, the Rev. Mozingo, Dr. Patrick, Dr. Turski, Lisa Crigger and all the nurses of Hospice of Southwest Virginia and the Saltville Rescue Squad. on May 21, 2009.⁴

McGhee, age 58, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2014, in Valley Health Care. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Dorothy Hunt McGhee; and a brother, Johnny McGhee. He is survived by a daughter, Christy McGhee Hall; grandsons, Shawn McGhee, Christapher Hall, Matthew Hall, and Austin Hall; brothers, David and Mary McGhee of Saltville, Va., Mark and Donna McGhee of Saltville, Va; sister-in-law, Linda McGhee of Saltville, Va. Burial followed in the Elizabeth cemetery. Pallbearers were Stanley Totten, Colton Frye, Billy Jackson, Derick McGhee, Billy Hayden, Butch Kestner, and Ray Hunt. A native of Parkersburg, W.Va., he was a son of Thomas M. and Mrs. Lola Dale Straider Wright. He was employed by Hampton Roads Plastering Co. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lola Bell McGhee Wright; four sons, Frank J. Wright, Hank R. Wright, Jack M. Wright and Jerry L. Wright, and two daughters, Shelia Ann Wright and Roxanne Wright, all of Portsmouth. on January 27, 1963.³
