He was a Production Service Leader with American Electric Power with 35 years service, attended Cross Lanes United Methodist Church, was a member of Nitro Moose Lodge #565 and a Legionnaire and also served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. Surviving are his wife, Nellie G. Gautier; daughter, Brandi E. Gardner of Poca, W.Va; son, Christopher L. Gautier of Omaha, Neb; father, Raymond (Ray) Gautier of Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Bonnie Robinson and Elizabeth Albert, both of Narrows, Va. and Patricia Lilly of Covington, Va; brothers, Jim Gautier and Edward Gautier, both of Dublin, Va; special uncle, William B. Hale and his wife Eula Hale of Narrows, Va; great-grandmother, Hattie Moody, Pine Hill, N.J; three stepgrandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Interment will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes, W.Va. on June 29, 1999.3

Emily is survived by her daughter Bernita Miller, her husband Jeff and their three children Nora, Kayla and Shea; her son Robert Pack and his wife Mari and their two children Brenda and Melissa; and her daughter Kristin Barens and her husband Jeff and their two children Jacalyn and Blake; as well as four great grandchildren. Emily was born in Tacoma, Washington in April 1932 to Flora and Maurice Barrett. After the death of her father Maurice in 1942, Emily, her mother Flora and her brother Robert moved to Santa Barbara, California after a short stop in Roseburg, Oregon. Emily graduated from Santa Barbara High School in 1950. Emily had a passion and gift for singing. While she was performing in a trio for Camp Cooke troops at the Santa Barbara Service Club, Jack Pack spotted her and introduced himself. Three months later on March 6, 1951 they were married in Elkart, Indiana. After their marriage Jack and Emily settled in Indiana only briefly before returning to Santa Barbara to raise their three children. After spending years at home raising her family, Emily began working for Santa Barbara Bank and Trust becoming Manager of Bank Card Services for over 25 years. Emily retired in 1995 and enjoyed traveling the US with her husband Jack until his passing in 2012. A private burial at Santa Barbara Cemetery will be held on Tuesday, January 10. on January 7, 2017.3
