Dick had a great love of sports, especially his Mountaineers and the Washington Redskins. Dick was a kind, caring and giving man. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Michelle; his parents, George Edward and Tida R. (Slack) Hays; a brother, Clifford R. Hays; and a brother-in-law, Fordyce Wyatt. Survivors include his wife, Cindy K. (Stowe) Hays; his sons, Jason (Joanne) of Elkview and David (Crystal) Hays of Charleston; his sister, Alice Wyatt of Ripley; his in-laws, Wes and Pat Stowe; along with nieces, a nephew and step children. Per his wishes, Dick will be cremated and there will not be a public service. on December 3, 2017.1
