Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Deborah A. (Randy) Brady and Karen S. (Dan) Bennett, both of Howard and Sheila L. Parsons of Bladensburg; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brothers, Levi W. and Harold Parsons, both of Massillon and Francis (Peggy) Lease of Katy, Texas. Sisters, Marie Carroll and Mona Burns, a brother, Thomas P. Parsons, and a half-brother, James Parsons, died previously. on August 3, 2006.3

(Siers) Parsons in April of this year; his son, Roger Dale Parsons; his sisters, Marie Carroll and Mona Burns; and his brothers, Tom and Thurman Parsons. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Bonnie Bosworth of Rhode Island, Robert L. (Barbara) Parsons of Stow, OH, Bennett Ray (Elise) Parsons of Oceanside, CA and Kevin (Lori) Parsons of Massillon; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his sister, Jean Lease; and his brother, Harold Parsons. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home with Rev. Edd Matako officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. on August 13, 2009.4

Emma was the Valedictorian of Harrisville High School’s class of 1957. After graduating, she went to work as a Business and English teacher. She worked a year in Ritchie County, a year in North Carolina, and finished her career working 32 years for Parkersburg High School. Emma loved to knit, crochet, play bridge, and she was an avid reader. But most of all, Emma loved to take care of her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Fenton Gale Hammett Jr. “Bud” of Vienna, WV; children, Fenton Gale Hammett III “Buddy” (Debra) of Clayton, NC, Susan Diane Reed of Belpre, OH, Anne Elizabeth Vandergrift (Jarrod) of Ravenswood, WV; 6 grandchildren, and 7 siblings, Bernice Hostottle of Little Hocking, OH, Martha Vincent of Williamstown, WV, Samuel Carroll of Charleston, WV, Dixie Reed of Pennsboro, WV, Gloria Morgan of Williamstown, WV, Corinne Chaney of Carollton, OH, and Danny Carroll of Harrisville, WV. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son in law, Tom Reed and oldest sister, Eva Lou Carroll. Emma will be greatly missed by her family and her cat, Miss Choi. In accordance with Emma's wishes, she will be cremated. She will be laid to rest in the Cairo Masonic Cemetery in Cairo, WV.2 She was born on June 9, 1939 at Sand Ridge, Calhoun Co., West Virginia.2 As of circa 1958,her married name was Hammett.2 She married Fenton Gale "Bud" Hammett Jr. circa 1958.2 Emma Ann Carroll died on August 7, 2021 at Vienna, Wood Co., West Virginia, at age 82.2
