He was born in McCoy, VA on December 19, 1933 to the late Walter B. Snyder and the late Alma Lucille Kessinger Snyder. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers, William T. Snyder and Wesley Allen Snyder; and son-in-law, David Wayne Craig. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Bobby is survived by his wife, Virginia Jones Snyder; daughters, Patsy A. Snyder, Vickie Snyder Craig, Kathy Snyder Cox, Tina Snyder Blevins and husband, James and Michelle Snyder Shively; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one step great grandchild; and brother, Eddie Wayne Snyder and wife, Lydia. Burial will follow the funeral service at Henry Memorial Park.2 He was buried at Henry Memorial Park, 8443 Virginia Avenue, Oak Level, Henry Co., Virginia.2 He was born on December 19, 1933 at McCoy, West Virginia.1,2 He married Virginia Ann Jones, daughter of George Clinton Jones and Virginia Louise Yates, on February 15, 1953 at Keystone, McDowell Co., West Virginia.1,2 Robert Basil Snyder died on March 30, 2017 at Danville, Virginia, at age 83.2

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Nora Jane Mitchem Steele of the home; one son, Joseph Earl Steele Jr. and wife, Tammi Michelle of Maybeury; two daughters, Mrs. Lee (Susan) Glick of Harrisonburg, Va., and Mrs. Shannon (Nora Elizabeth “Beth”) Hodge of Brushfork; one sister, Mrs. G.W. (Elizabeth “Liz”) Yates of Floyd County, Va; two brothers, Frank Steele and companion Pam of Floyd, Va., and Kelly Steele and wife Linda of Christiansburg, Va; two grandsons, Joseph Earl Steele III and Mathew Luke Steele, both of Maybeury; one granddaughter, Michelle Renae Hodge of Brushfork; and special aunt, Margaret Vest of Floyd. Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Park of Bluewell. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Sandy River District American Legion Post 175 of Bradshaw. Pallbearers will be Roger Ball, Pete. Graham, Clyde Graham, Ray Mitchem, Billy Byrd and Charlie Greer. on October 21, 1998.6
