He is survived by his wife Loretta Blankenship; sons Michael and Donnie (Johniece); 2 step-sons, Barry and Brian Fields; grandchildren, Josh, Angel, Cody, Misty, Linsey, and Dustin; 3 step grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Gene loved the Lord and was a member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church. He was a very loving and caring husband and dearly loved his family. He also loved to travel and never met a stranger.
