He was member of the Akron Lodge No. 0083 A and FM, the Scottish Rite Lodge Valley of Akron and the AARP. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Clayburn, Trent “Elmore” and Bernard Shumake and a sister, Arlean Epperly. Survivors include his wife, Pansy Jane Argabright Shumake; a daughter, Katrina D. Heflin-Smither of Hilltop, and three grandchildren, Joshua J. and Brittaney K.D. Wiolland and Scott J. VanDress, all of Akron, Ohio. Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at the Tyree Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jarrold Lanham officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Friends may call 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Robert Epperly, Randy Derringer, Carl and Paul Hanning, Tim Lepto, Wayne Byrge and Frank Hartenstein.
