She is also survived by her parents, Glenna and Marvin Manning as well as two sisters, Michelle Thomas and Marcy Doss; her grandmother, Lois Rowlett; her in-laws, Ralph and Judy Garrett; brother-in-law, Mutt Garrett. She loves playing with her six grandchildren Aaron, Colby, Leilah, S.J, and Jessie Schilling and Emalynn Collins. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, friends, and teammates. on January 31, 2021.1

     Samuel Jay Pilson Samuel Jay Pilson, 55, of Bassett, VA, died Monday, April 13, 2015, at his residence. He was born in Martinsville, VA on November 8, 1959 to Glen Julian Pilson and Mary Gauldin Pilson. In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his son, Samuel Tristan Pilson. Sam was a Firefighter for 25 years with Bassett Volunteer Fire Department where he also served as Fire Chief for many years. He also served on the Henry County Board of Supervisors for the Blackberry District as Vice Chairman. Sam owned Pilson’s Auto and Salvage and was currently employed at Mehler Engineered Products as Occupational Safety and Health Manager. He loved Philpott Lake, took great joy in his nieces, nephews and god-daughters, and was a strong advocate for education.3 He was born on November 8, 1959 at Martinsville, Virginia.1,2,3 He married Edith Shawn Prillaman, daughter of Alton Wythe Prillaman and Ruth Louise Howell, on August 9, 1980 at Henry Co., Virginia.1 Samuel Jay Pilson died on April 13, 2015 at Bassett, Virginia, at age 55.3

     Samuel Tristan Pilson was buried at Old Center Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Sanville, Henry Co., Virginia.2,4 He was born on August 5, 1996 at Eden, Rockingham Co., North Carolina.2,4 He died on December 5, 2005 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 9.5,2,4 He Samuel (Tristan) Pilson, 9, of 77 Pony Ridge Road, Bassett, Va., died Monday, December 5, 2005 at Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital, Roanoke, Va. He was born on August 5, 1996 in Eden, N.C., the son of Sam Pilson and Shawn Prillaman Pilson, both of the home. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Glenn Julian Pilson and Mary G. Pilson. Tristan was a fourth grade student at Sanville Elementary School, attended Orchard Drive Baptist Church, and he was an honorary member of the Bassett Volunteer Fire Department. When he was healthy, he played soccer and football, and participated in karate and skateboarding. He had a love of all music and played the guitar. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Alton Wythe Prillaman and Ruth Howell Prillaman, both of Wirtz, Va. The funeral service will be held Thursday, December 8, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Orchard Drive Baptist Church, Bassett, Va. with the Revs. Michael Harrison, Lew Bennett and Dr. Joan Fisher officiating. Interment will follow at Old Center Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Bassett, Va. on December 7, 2005.4
