Her Social Security Number was 267-15-4983.1 Ethlyn Louise Blakeslee was born on April 16, 1912 at DuBois, Clearfield Co., Pennsylvania.1 As of 1936,her married name was Walter.2 She married Dr. Nelson John Walter, son of Clarence Eugene "Beezer" Walter and Mollie Alice Martin, in 1936.2 Ethlyn Louise Blakeslee died on August 12, 2002 at Coral Gables, Dade Co., Florida, at age 90.1,3,2 She Walter, Ethlyn, long time Coral Gables resident, Ethlyn (Blakeslee) Walter died August 12, 2002. Born and raised in DuBois, PA, she was valedictorian of her high school class and studied music at Oberlin College. A young doctor, Dr. Nels Walter, became her husband of over 50 years in 1936, and together they raised three daughters. Following a spur-of-the-moment trip to Miami in January of 1953, they fell in love with South Florida and relocated to Coral Gables later that year. Known affectionately as "Louisa" by her husband and close friends, their lives centered around family, friends, (especially bridge players), the church, and their long association with Rotary International. They were early members of Coral Reef Yacht Club and long time members of the Century Club and the Country Club of Coral Gables, were enthusiastic golfers, and never turned down a bridge game. Ethlyn's great love was music and she was an excellent pianist and organist. She played both for many years in the chapel of First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables for their Wesley Sunday School class. She was a LIFE member of both the Coral Gables Music Club and the Young Patronesses of the Opera and shared her talents graciously. In recent years the church and the associations were especially meaningful. " Louisa" loved people and her home was always full of family, friends, food and conviviality. She was gracious, generous, gentle and good. And her positive attitude will remain a vivid memory with those she leaves behind. Survivors include daughters, Linda Wellenhofer and Wendy Walter of Miami, Molly Stolle (Bill) of Waynesville, NC; granddaughters, Kristen (Erickson) Forsyth and Robyn (Wellenhofer) Miller; grandsons, Lief Erickson and John Wellenhofer III, ten great grandchildren; sister, Marion Koch (PA); and brothers, Colson Blakeslee (PA) and James Blakeslee (NY), and special friend of the family, John Keats. on August 15, 2002.2
