He served in the Army from 1963 to 1965 as an Armor Intel Specialist and earned his Sharpshooter badge. Upon returning to the area, Ed was employed by Rexnord Industries for many years. He was a member of Pleasant Community Church. Ed loved to travel. He and his wife, Shirley, visited the Panama Canal, Mt. Denali and Mt. Whitney in Alaska, the Hoover Dam, Lake Superior, and numerous European countries. Ed was an avid bicycler and runner and was a member of the YMCA. He was also an extremely gentle and generous man who will be greatly missed. One summer, Ed and Shirley covered the cost for each child who attended the church’s Vacation Bible School to receive a Bible. Ed is survived by his brother, Kenneth H. Silvis, of Bear Lake, PA; three nephews, Roy, Shawn, and Jeffrey Silvis; as well as his church family and friends. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death on April 25, 2016, by his wife, Shirley A. (Dykes) Silvis, whom he married May 26, 1972, at the First Church of the Nazarene, in Warren; and a brother, Larry A. Silvis. A private burial service will be held at Barnes Cemetery, with Rev. Michael Poindexter, pastor, Pleasant Community Church, officiating. on April 10, 2018.2

She survives along with three daughters, Mrs. William (Dolores) Hollis of Knox, and Della and Nellie at home; eight sons, James of Altoona, Thomas of Buffalo, Arthur of Lucinda, Raymond of Snydersburg, Edward, Ronald, William and Paul at home; three sisters, Mrs. Paul (Gertrude) Reinsel, Miss Germanie Lutz and Mrs. Loyd (Catherine) Finney of Clarion, and 11 grandchildren. A son, Richard, four sisters and three brothers are deceased. Friends may call any time after 2 p.m. today at the Moore-Borland Funeral Home in Leeper, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Tuesday. Requiem mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Church at Lucinda with the pastor, Rev. William Holl, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Church Cemetery. on April 14, 1969.1

Lutz and his wife, Michal of Lucinda; Paul A. Lutz and his wife, Lynn of Knox; Delores Hollis of Leeper; Della Lutz of Lucinda and Nellie Lutz of Fryburg. He is also survived by 2 sister-in-laws: Jean Lutz of Lucinda and Carol Lutz of Blairsville. Richard Albert Lutz was buried at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Lucinda, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.1,2 He was born on April 22, 1942 at Snydersburg, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.1 He died on February 25, 1962 at Clarion, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania, at age 19.1 He Clarion - Richard Lutz, 19, of nearby Snyderburg was fatally injured Saturday in an auto accident on Route 68, eight miles north of here. State police said Lutz was the driver of a car that spun out of control on an icy spot and smashed into steel guard rails. He suffered a fractured skull and from shock. A passenger, Charles Schwabenbauer, 19, also of Snydersburg, was treated for lacerations on the left hand, head and chin and for a bruise on the right shoulder. Another youth, Andrew D. Grolemund, 17, os Snydersburg was uninjured. All three were thrown out of the car after it hit the guard rails. State police said the car was traveling at a high rate of speed down a slight grade. The accident occurred at 2:30 p.m. Lutz died 10 hours later in the Clarion Hospital. J. Ward Kier, county coroner, said he would issue a certificate of accident death. Young Lutz was born April 22, 1952, in Snydersburg, a son of Arthur and Anna Porter Lutz. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Lucinda and had attended St. Joseph School in that community. In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Delores, Della and Nellie, at home; eight brothers, James of Callensburg, Thomas and Raymond of Buffalo, Arthur Jr. in the U.S. Army in Kentucky, and Edward, Ronald, William and Paul, at home. Friends will be received in the Moore-Borland Funeral Home in Leeper after 2 p.m. today. Requiem mass will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Church, Lucinda, with Rev. William Holl, pastor of the church, as celebrant. Interment will be in the church cemetery. on February 26, 1962.5

Lutz, Lucinda; Paul Lutz, Knox; and three sisters: Delores Jane Hollis and husband William, Leeper; Della Lutz, Lucinda; and Nellie Rupert and husband James, Shippensville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Fleschner, and three brothers, Richard Lutz, Edward Lutz and Ronald Lutz. In keeping with Jim’s wishes, there will be no visitation. on May 7, 2008.2
