Emma was born in Ashland, W.Va. to Frank Edward Willis and Clara Inez Guilliams. She grew up in West Virginia, where she met the love of her life James, her husband of 56 years. She was a graduate of Northfork High School, Class of 1954, and later received her Registered Nursing degree from Jefferson Hospital in Roanoke, Va. Emma is survived by her two sons, Russell Lawless of Boones Mill, and Rodney Lawless (Tammy) of Callaway; sisters, Frances Church of Boones Mill, Becky Darago (Carl) of Huntingtown, Md; brother, Robert Willis (Linda) of Roanoke. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband James "DeeDee"; her parents Frank and Inez Willis. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Amanda Lawless of Roanoke, Angie McGhee (Freddy) of Boones Mill, Tim Lawless (Megan) of Boones Mill, Rebecca Loan (James) of Callaway and Tracy Weddle (Philip) of Callaway. Twelve great-grandchildren, Emmaleigh Rose, Gabrielle Rose, DJ Roderick, Brittany McGhee, Rylan McGhee, Andrew McGhee, Laci Lawless, Brandon Mathena, Jessie Mathena, Christian Loan, Kylee Sink and Zoe Weddle also survive. Emma devoted her life to her family and was dedicated to the service of others as a Registered Nurse. She loved gospel and bluegrass music. Emma adored her loving dog and companion, "Peanut" after the death of her husband in 2013. Emma's church family of Boones Mill Baptist Church held a special place in her heart. The family would like to thank the staff of Cardiac Surgery ICU and the Cardio Thoracic Surgical Team of Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for all of the support, care and compassion, as well as the overwhelming love from many friends, relatives, and members of Boones Mill Baptist Church with their cards, visits, phone calls, food and much needed prayers. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2015 at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount, VA. Funeral service to honor her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Flora Funeral Service with Pastor, Dr. Richard Harrell officiating. Frances W. Church, 79, of Boones Mill, Va, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, August 1, 2018. Frances was born in Ashland, W.Va. on May 12, 1939. Since her late husband Billy Joe Church's passing in 1977, she dedicated her life to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After a short career with the FBI and raising her children, she worked in management for several regional pharmacies before retiring. In addition to her late husband, Frances is preceded in death by her parents, Frank E. and Inez Guilliams Willis; her daughter-in-law, Jennifer Church; and her sister, Emma Lawless. She is survived by her three children, Tamey Conner, Mark Church (Lynn), and Marlene Wray (Michael); her six grandchildren, Christen Church (Donnie Parrish), Jessica Nichols (Eric Jantz), Adam Church (Abbey), Sydney Church (Dan Stenger), Megan Whitaker (Sam), and Laura Conner; and her six great-grandchildren, Braxton Nichols, Bethany Conner, Isla Church-Parrish, Sullivan Church-Parrish, Jaxon Whitaker, and Aaron Church; her "adopted" son, Clifton Gill; her sister, Becky Darago (Carl); her brother, Bobby Willis (Linda); and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Frances' long-time friend, Virginia Bussey, and to Good Samaritan Hospice. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Flora Funeral Home in Rocky Mount, Va. The funeral service will be held at Flora Funeral Home on Saturday, August 4 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Richard Huggins of Lakeland, Fla. will be officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Mountain View Memorial Park. on August 2, 2018.3

Jim was born in Welch, W.Va., to Jesse Peter Lawless and Hattie Frances (Dodson) Lawless. He grew up in West Virginia, where he met the love of his life, Emma, his wife of 56 years. He was a graduate of Northfork High School, Class of 1950, and then received his Bachelor degree in Business Law and Accounting. < Jim proudly served our country as a Sergeant in the United States Army from 1952 to 1960. He began his work career with the Federal Bureau of Investigations in Washington, D.C., in 1955 where he retired as an Assistant Section Chief in 1987. He received his Certificate of Ordination as a Deacon in 1968 in Forestville, Md. Jim was an active member of Boones Mill Baptist Church. Jim is survived by his wife, Emma; and two sons, Russell Lawless, of Boones Mill, and Rodney Lawless (Tammy), of Callaway. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Mike, Hobert, Ted and Mack Lawless; and sisters, Nora and Blanche. His sister, Gladys Simmons, survives. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Amanda Lawless, of Roanoke, Angie McGhee (Freddy), of Boones Mill, Tim Lawless (Megan), of Boones Mill, Rebecca Loan (James), of Callaway, and Tracy Weddle (Philip), of Callaway; 11 great-grandchildren, Emmaleigh Rose, Gabrielle Rose, Brittany McGhee, Rylan McGhee, Andrew McGhee, Laci Lawless, Brandon Mathena, Jessie Mathena, Christian Loan, Kylee Sink and Zoe Weddle also survive. Jim loved his family, gospel and bluegrass music, collecting clocks, and proudly displaying his passion for this country - he loved the American flag and all that it stands for! He enjoyed serving Boones Mill Baptist Church. Jim's church family held a special place in his heart.
