They had just celebrated their 70th anniversary in February. Fred was born in Akron, Ohio on Nov. 6, 1922. He was the son of Fred R. & Lora Cunningham. Mr. Cunningham joined the Marines during WWII and served in the Pacific theatre for 21 months, which included the Bougainville and Pelilu campaigns. Hundreds of letters flowed between Fred and Louise while he was overseas. After his return from the Pacific, they were married on Feb. 24th, 1945. After leaving the Marines, Fred started working for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Akron, Ohio. He retired after 39 years of service, in Topeka, as a Dept. Foreman. After retiring, Fred loved to feed the deer, turkeys, squirrels, possums, and other wildlife that ventured daily into his large backyard, knowing that a friendly man would welcome them. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and a life member and 32nd degree Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Valley of Topeka, Orient of Kansas and Adonira-Joppa Masonic Lodge No. 0517 A.F. & A.M., Akron, OH. Fred is survived by his wife Louise, son Fred (Karen), Tulsa Ok, son Ray (Joyce), Akron, Ohio, and daughter Barbara (Jeff) Koci, Topeka. His son Randy preceded him in death as did his 8 siblings all, Akron, Oh. In addition, Fred is survived by nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren whom he loved. The Cunningham family would like to thank Midland Hospice for their professional and caring service to our family. on July 28, 2015.4
