He served in the United States Army for three years where he earned the rank of Specialist 5 and received an honorable discharge. Johnny was best known for his dancing, carpentry, and his entrepreneurial mindset. Also involved in his community, he served as a deacon of his church. He dreamed big and always said he lived a full life. He will be deeply mourned and missed by his family and friends. on March 26, 2023.²

Taylor, Richmond, and Delores Larman, Clifton Forge; and a nephew, James R. Kennedy, Chesapeake. A graveside service will be held in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on July 18, 2000.⁴
