Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016 at McLaren's Chapel in West Des Moines with a visitation from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. Lloyd was born January 21, 1921 in Grand Junction, IA. He served in the Army during WWII in the Mediterranean Theater, where he received a bronze star. Lloyd was in the prestigious 34th Division, which had a record 550 days of combat. Lloyd married Dorothy on May 9, 1947 and together they raised two sons, Dennis and Rick. Lloyd worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over 35 years. He was very active in the Local APW 44 Postal Union, serving as president for several years, and was inducted into the Labor Hall of Fame for his union work. Lloyd was a retired member of the APW Union Chapter and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Lloyd is survived by his two sons, Dennis and Rick (Cindy); grandchildren: Lorie, Carrie, and Jason; and sisters, Rhea and Roberta. He was preceded in death by his sister, Naomi Munson. on June 1, 2016.⁵

     Dennis Edward "Denny" Weems Dennis (Denny) Weems, age 66, passed away on Monday, February 25th, 2019 at his home in Melrose, Iowa. He was born in Des Moines to Lloyd and Dorothy (Thomas) Weems. Denny worked for John Deere before moving back home to Des Moines to help care for his parents until their passing. He was a free spirit who lived life the way he wanted to. He loved feeling the wind in his hair, whether he was on the water, fishing in his boat or going for a ride on his Harley. He loved trying new things and experiences. In fact, he was a talented cook, with a passion for bbq, who enjoyed experimenting with traditional dishes to make them unique (and in his opinion- better). Most of all, he was fiercely protective of his family and friends. Denny had a big personality that was hard to ignore and he will be missed by those who knew him. He is survived by his daughters, Lori (Terry) Elvrom and Carrie Weems; grandchildren, Paige, Lydia, Thomas and Cooper; brother, Richard (Cindy) Weems; nephew, Jason (Ashley) Weems; great niece, Kinsley, as well as several other extended family members.² He was born on May 12, 1952 at Des Moines, Polk Co., Iowa.¹ He died on May 25, 2019 at Melrose, Monroe Co., Iowa, at age 67.²

     John Bucknell Owens was buried at Belvidere Cemetery, Belvidere, Boone Co., Illinois.^3,6 His Social Security Number was 483-10-0748.⁷ He was born on October 6, 1916 at Chariton, Lucas Co., Iowa.^7,4,5,6 He married Neola H. Thomas, daughter of Benjamin Richard "Ben" Thomas and Nadja Hatton Fear, on December 23, 1934 at Schuyler Co., Missouri.¹ John Bucknell Owens and Neola H. Thomas were divorced before 1952.⁶ John Bucknell Owens died on December 1, 1975 at Belvidere, Boone Co., Illinois, at age 59.⁶ He John B. Owens, 59, 7644 Appleton Road, died at 11:10 p.m. Monday St. Anthony Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born Oct. 6, 1916, in Chariton, Iowa, the son of Thomas and Catherine Bucknell Owens. He married Ruth Rogers Aug. 15, 1952, in Rockford. Mr. Owens lived in Belvidere since 1952, previously in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He was employed by Chas. Ind. Co. for 20 years, and then Rockford Blacktop up to one year before his death as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and a life-time member of the Moose Lodge No. 295, Belvidere; VFW John Hugo Kaiser Post, No. 1461, and International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 150. He went to the public schools of Beacon and Oskaloosa, Iowa. He is survived by his wife, one son, Sanford, Oskaloosa, and one stepson, Richard LeClere, Belvidere; two daughters, Mrs. Sandra Herrick, Oskaloosa; Mrs. Rhoda Perry, Monroe, Iowa, and two step-daughters, Mrs. Maxine Wendell, Belvidere, and Mrs. Marge Schultz, Belvidere; two brothers Rendel Owens, Oskaloosa, and Lester Owens, Des Moines, and one step brother, Thomas Corporon, Niobrara, Neb; two sisters, Mrs. Lorena Allgood, Oskaloosa and Mrs. Margaret Willison, West Covins, Calif., and one step-sister, Mrs. Albert Davis, Grinnell, Iowa. Mr. Owns was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. Funeral services will be held at the Witbeck-Wheeler-Sabien Funeral Home on Thursday at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. George T. Ballein, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Belvidere, officiating. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery. on December 3, 1975.⁶

Fullilove and Merriam Minervia Thompson were divorced in 1949 at Dade Co., Florida.² Cecil W. Fullilove died on May 28, 2001 at age 82.³
