Sevelle graduated high school there in 1939 and married David Vance in San Antonio in 1943 during World War II. She was a homemaker most of their married life, raising their only son in Grand Prairie, Texas. They moved back to Gilmer after retirement in 1978. She was proceed in death by all of her seven siblings. Survivors include Donn Vance and wife Gaynelle of Lufkin, Texas; granddaughter Andrea Im and husband Albert of Austin, Texas; and grandson Brian Vance of Lufkin. on April 11, 2019.1

Edith Geraldine Shirey Edith G. Kifer, 91 of Egypt died on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008 at Clearfield Hospital. She was born on January 30, 1917 in Croft, a daughter of the late Elzie and Clarabelle (Holt) Shirey. Mrs. Kifer retired from the Clearfield Hospital after 27 years of employment. She was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Clearfield. She is survived by seven children, Frances Woodling and her husband Duane of Egypt, Rose Merritts of Pleasant Valley, James Cole, Jr. and his wife Dorothy of Marion, Douglas Cole and his wife Kimberly of Bradford Township, William Cole and his fiancé Angelika of Clearfield, Linda McGonigal and her husband Ralph of Karthaus, Larry Cole and his wife Cindy of Frenchville, 54 Grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Cole, on December 17, 1971, her second husband, Ken Kifer, a daughter, Dessie Lee, a son Bob Cole, a granddaughter, a great-great granddaughter, two sisters, Genevieve Cole and Nellie Gillingham and two brothers Blair Shirey and Glenn Shirey. Funeral services will be held at Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Duane A. White officiating. Cole of Mahaffey, Douglas Cole of Woodland, William Cole of Clearfield, and Larry Cole of Frenchville; three sisters, Frances Woodling of Shiloh, Rosie Merritts of Woodland, and Linda McGonigal of Karthaus, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her father; a grandson Jeffrey L. Mitchell; an infant sister, Sharon Mitchell; and a brother, Robert Cole. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Waldron Funeral Home, Mahaffey, with the Rev. Albert Cooper officiating. Interment will be at Congress Hill Cemetery, LeContes Mills. on December 15, 2005.4
