     Nancy J. Cotton Nancy J. (Cotton) Hill, age 72 of Elwood, went to be with the Lord on September 10, 2004 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after an extended illness. She was born November 24, 1931 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was an elementary school teacher for 28 years retiring from Edgewood Elementary School in Elwood in 1995. She had also worked as a teacher in Muncie, Auburn, and Salem, NJ. Nancy was a Christian, a daughter, a wife, a mother, a teacher, and a conservation environmentalist. She was a 1950 graduate of Wendel L. Wilkie High School and later graduated from Ball State Teachers College in 1953. She received her Masters Degree from Indiana University. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Society. In the last 44 years she has lived in Anderson, Perkinsville, and Elwood. Survivors include - Husband whom she married June 7, 1953: Donald J. Hill of Elwood. Daughter and Son: Evelyn V. Hill and Stephen E. Hill both of Elwood. 5 Sisters: JoAnne Seright of Elwood, Marilyn (Dallas) Etchison of Tipton, Joyce Ruby of Carmichael, CA, Alice (George) Knotts of Elwood, and Linda Speer of Elwood. Special Brother: Paul Kangai of Indianapolis. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her Parents: Dr. Perry and Evelyn (Fisher) Cotton and Sister: Carol C. Frye. A Christian Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 18, 2004 at Main Street Wesleyan Church in Elwood with Rev. James Cline of the Hobbs United Methodist Church officiating.      Evelyn Velnet Hill was buried at Elwood City Cemetery, Elwood, Madison Co., Indiana.³ She Evelyn Velnet Hill, age 64 of Elwood, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief, unexpected illness. She was born September 2, 1954 in Elwood, the daughter of Donald J. and Nancy J. (Cotton) Hill. Evelyn graduated from Wendell L. Willkie High School in the class of 1972. She graduated from Ball State University with a degree in Psychology. Later, Evelyn graduated from I.U.P.U.I. with a degree in Accounting and Business. She retired in 2017 from the City of Elwood where she worked as a clerk in the Building and Planning Commission office for 12 years. She also formerly served as a clerk in the Clerk-Treasurer’s office, and a clerk for the Elwood Police Department in past years. Evelyn worked as a substitute teacher for Elwood Community Schools for many years where she enjoyed interacting with children. Evelyn was a member of the Hobbs United Methodist Church until it closed, and later she and the congregation joined the Windfall United Methodist Church pastored by Rev. Dennis Lafferty. Evelyn regularly picked up children in her neighborhood to take them to church and take them out for lunch afterwards. She was a member of the Indy Ski Club with whom she enjoyed several memorable trips, and she loved to volunteer at the Morrisett Center Food Pantry on Monday evenings. Evelyn was passionate about the environment, and regularly passed out trees on Arbor Day along with the local Boy Scouts. She especially loved to travel and go to the theater with her cousins and friends. She was the person in her family who knew all the family genealogy. More than anything, Evelyn always had a smile on her face and was friendly to everyone she met. Evelyn’s family includes 2 aunts, Joyce (husband Earl) Ruby of Carmichael, CA and Marilyn (husband Dallas) Etchison of Hampden, ME; numerous loving cousins and friends. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Stephen E. Hill in 2011. A celebration of life memorial service will be conducted at a later date, and burial will take place privately by the family.³ She was born on September 2, 1954 at Elwood, Madison Co., Indiana.³ She died on April 9, 2019 at Indianapolis, Marion Co., Indiana, at age 64.³

He was born August 21, 1960 in Elwood, the son of Donald J. and Nancy J. (Cotton) Hill. He had been hospitalized recently, fighting the effects of C.O.P.D., which he had for several years. He was self-employed as a rental property manager. He was a 1978 graduate of Frankton High School and also a graduate of John H. Hinds Career Center in Elwood. He was a member of the Hobbs United Methodist Church. Stephen was well known for having a great sense of humor. Survivors include: Father – Donald J. Hill of Elwood; and Sister – Evelyn V. Hill of Elwood. He was preceded in death by his mother Nancy J. (Cotton) Hill in 2004. Cremation took place.⁴ He was born on August 21, 1960 at Elwood, Madison Co., Indiana.^4,5 He died on April 13, 2011 at Rock Island, Rock Island Co., Illinois, at age 50.^4,5

     Willard John Rubow was buried at Sunset Memory Garden, Kokomo, Howard Co., Indiana.⁵ He was born on December 27, 1924 at Frankfort, Clinton Co., Indiana.^3,4 He married Priscilla Maxine Green, daughter of Earl Franklin Green and Mary Margaret Sullivan, on July 5, 1947 at Kokomo, Howard Co., Indiana.^1,2,5 Willard John Rubow died on December 28, 2014 at Kokomo, Howard Co., Indiana, at age 90.⁵ He Willard John Rubow, 90, Kokomo, passed away at 7:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, at Aperion Care. He was born Dec. 27, 1924, in Frankfort, to the late Martin John and Leona Mae (Perry) Rubow. He married Priscilla Maxine (Greene) on July 5, 1947, in Kokomo; and she preceded him in death on Oct. 19, 1996.. Willard served in the United States Army during World War II. He then retired in 1986 after 28 years of service from Armour Meat Co., Dixon, California. He was a life member of the VFW Post 1152, NRA, American Legion Post 6, Eagles Lodge, and DAV.. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Maier, South Portland, Maine; son and a daughter-in-law, David and Mary Ann Rubow, Hephzibah, Georgia; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Patricia Ann Cubio; grandson, Martin L. Rubow; five brothers, Bill, Martin, Donald, Frank and Chuck Rubow; and one sister; Patricia Rubow.. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., with the Rev. Lehmon Hale officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery, with full military honors conducted by the United States Army and the Kokomo VFW military rites team. on December 30, 2014.⁵
