     Diane Elizabeth "Beth" Cox Diane “Beth” Elizabeth Cox Poff, age 67 of Snowville passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021 at the New River Valley Medical Center. Born September 22, 1953 in Radford she was the daughter of the late John Clayton Cox & Joan Phillips Cox. She was also preceded in death by her brother John “Buck Cox, Jr. She is survived by her Husband – Dennis Lee Poff – Snowville; Children – Todd Davis – Christiansburg, Yana (Bobby) Hunter – Snowville, Monica (Tom) Noble – Pulaski; Grandchildren – Devon, Aden, Alicia, Jimmy, Billie and Timothy; Brothers – Tim (Sherry) Cox – Snowville, Kevin (Diane) Cox – Snowville; Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.¹ Her married name was Poff.¹ She married Dennis Lee Poff, son of David Lee Poff and Eva Joyce Epperly.¹ Diane Elizabeth "Beth" Cox was born on September 22, 1953 at Radford, Virginia.^1,2 She died on September 2, 2021 at Pulaski, Pulaski Co., Virginia, at age 67.¹

She married Edgar V. Thomas Sept. 4, 1934, in Russell, Iowa. She lived in the David City area most of her life. She was an occupation manager for Trotters Store Inc. and a homemaker. She was a member of St. Lukes United Methodist Church in David City, PEO, Owls Club, Eastern Star, and a bridge club and also involved in many charity organizations. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Cheryl Thomas of Clermont, Fla; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1985; and one sister. Services were held Monday, Jan. 20, at St. Lukes United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wendell Davis officiating. Burial was at the David City Cemetery. on January 23, 2003.²

     Ray Merle Baker Ray Merle Baker passed away at the Golden Living Center in Columbus on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the age of 99. Ray was born on November 2, 1915 to Bert and Myrtle Preston Baker in Farnam NE. He attended school and grew up on a family farm in rural Farnam. Ray married Dorothy Marie Chaney in Farnam NE. He was a member of the Columbus Police Department from 1950 to 1960 when he resigned and moved to Lincoln, NE. Ray enjoyed driving for Santa Fe, and Greyhound bus lines for 30 years across the states until he retired. Ray married Eleanor Mahlin Krumland on May 11th, 2000 and resided in Columbus until his death. Ray enjoyed traveling with Eleanor to the Northwest and the Western part of the United States as well as traveling to Texas and Missouri. It was on one of these trips that Ray and Eleanor got married in Las Vegas on May 12th, 2000. He is survived by: stepchildren Ginger Zabka of Santee CA, Nancy (Herbert) Schultz of Columbus, Melvin (Susan) Mahlin of Columbus, Onno J.(Joyce) Mahlin of Idaho Falls ID, 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren, as well as nephews Cecil (Rosie) Baker, Gary (Debbie) Baker of North Platte: Jim (Pat) Baker of Farnam and a niece Sherry (Merle) Lind of North Platte. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Eleanor, first wife, Dorothy, son, Thomas, and one brother Lawrence.³ He was born on November 2, 1915 at Farnam, Dawson Co., Nebraska.^2,3 He married Eleanor Pearl Thomas, daughter of Albert Valentine Thomas and Florence Pearl Robare, on May 11, 2000 at Clark Co., Nevada.^1,2,5,3 Ray Merle Baker died on October 14, 2015 at Columbus, Platte Co., Nebraska, at age 99.^3,2

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. on April 7, 1997.⁴

     Nancy Mahlin Nancy Schultz, age 74, died Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral Services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus. Social distance seating will be in practice and out of respect of the family masks are requested. Visitation is 5:00 - 7:00 Friday at McKown Funeral Home with covid-19 restrictions in place and the family will not be present. Burial is in the Columbus Cemetery. Nancy Marie Schultz was born January 11, 1946, in Columbus to Norval and Eleanor (Thomas) Mahlin. She attended Columbus schools and graduated from Columbus Beauty College in 1964. She married Herbert Schultz on June 5, 1965 at the Federated Church in Columbus. Nancy worked at Becton-Dickinson, Burger King, and did home daycare. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, camping, and celebrating the holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas. Nancy was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Red Hat Society. She is survived by: Husband: Herb Schultz of Columbus, NE. Daughter: Dawn Marie (Rick) Loseke of Bailey, CO. Son: Thomas (Janet) Schultz of Columbus, NE. Daughter: Wendi (special friend Brad Szatko) Book of Columbus, NE. Son: Chad (Jenny) Schultz of Duncan, NE. 15 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Granddaughter. Brother: Melvin (Sue) Mahlin of Columbus, NE. Brother: Onno (Joyce) Mahlin of Idaho. She was preceded in death by: Parents: Norval and Eleanor Mahlin, Sister: Ginger Zabka.
