Metzger Harold C. Metzger, 88, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 9:50 a.m., Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Miller's Merry Manor East in Wabash. He was born September 6, 1926 on the family farm south of Wabash, to Charles Leslie and Ruth (Bayles) Metzger. Harold was a 1944 graduate of Somerset High School, enlisted in the U.S. Army during WWII, serving from 1945-1947, and then attended Purdue University one year. Harold moved back to Wabash County and began farming in the spring of 1954, and was a lifelong farmer and lover of the land. He first married Margaret Marie Stouffer in Wabash on May 7, 1950; she died August 14, 1992. He then married Ruth (Reed) Long at Peoria Church on May 29, 1994; she died May 19, 1996. He married Georgia (Shumaker) Niccum in LaFeria, Texas on January 9, 1998. Since 1998, Harold and Georgia spent winters in Weslaco, Texas at the Siesta Retirement Village. Harold was active in a group that played shuffleboard competitively. He enjoyed the game, his partners and the friendships made through competition. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Metzger of Wabash; 3 children, Susan Metzger of Evanston, Illinois, Debra Metzger Weitzman of Corvallis, Oregon, and Daniel (Latheda) Metzger of Wabash, 4 step-children, Tom (Deb) Niccum of Wabash, Tim (Sheri) Niccum of Buckeye, Arizona, Debra (Randy) Selvage of Avondale, Arizona, and Lori (Jeff) Hileman of Wabash; 6 grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 19 step-great-grandchildren, and his brother, Francis Metzger of North Manchester, Indiana. He was also preceded in death by his parents, son, Michael Metzger, and 2 sisters, Velda Stout, and Nova McClure. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with David Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, Wabash on February 19, 2015.5 He died on February 19, 2015 at Wabash, Wabash Co., Indiana, at age 88.5

     Christina Kay Long was born on December 1, 1950 at Wabash, Wabash Co., Indiana.3 As of November 23, 1971,her married name was Grossnickle.2 She married Dennis Eugene Grossnickle on November 23, 1971 at Muncie, Delaware Co., Indiana.2,3 Christina Kay Long died on July 29, 2013 at Indiana at age 62. She Christina Kay Grossnickle - Christi was born on Dec. 1, 1950 in Wabash, to Richard and Ruth Long. A 1973 graduate of Indiana State University in elementary education she began her long teaching career in 1st and 2nd grades near Attica. Christi taught in North Carolina for nine years and earned a Master's Degree at Appalachian State University. She retired from the Rochester Community School Corporation, in 2011. She dedicated her working life to the achievement of children. She earned the respect of students, parents, fellow educators and administrators. Christi married Dennis Grossnickle in 1971 at Grace Lutheran Church in Muncie. A lifelong Lutheran, Christi was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, where she served as a trustee, on the alter guild, Luther Anns, and taught Sunday school. She volunteered at the Cross Church food pantry and Second Blessings. Christi enjoyed the classes at the Wellness Center as well as running, biking, hiking and recently golfing. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling. She had so much more to give back to this community, that she loved, had her life had not been cut short. In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Clint Grossnickle and companion Jessy Van Camp, London, England and a daughter, Jessica Grossnickle and companion Marcos Flores, Chicago, Ill; a sister, Linda (Fred) Hamilton, Muncie and a brother, Maurice (Katie) Long, Wabash. A celebration of the life of Christi K. Grossnickle will be held at the St. John Lutheran Church located at 4th Street at Jefferson Street, Rochester at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 5. The Rev. Mel Meyer will officiate. Friends may visit with her family from 3 - 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th Street, Rochester and at the church Monday one hour prior to her services. Christi's final resting place will be the St. John Lutheran Church Columbarium where she will be inurned following her services. on August 1, 2013.3

     Marlene Marie Bouse REED, Marlene Marie, 65, of Roanoke, died Saturday, August 12, 2000 after her courageous six year battle with cancer. A native of Indiana, she had lived in the Roanoke Valley for 23 years. She was a graduate of Purdue University with masters degrees in home economics and education. She and her husband John, moved to Roanoke to establish their own business, Curry Copy Center, from which she retired in 1998. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, John E. Reed; children and spouses, Greg and Beth Reed, Teresa and Tim Parry, and Judi and Paul Anderson; and nine grandchildren, all of Roanoke. Other survivors include her parents, Wayne and Marie Bouse; two sisters and one brother and their spouses, all of Indiana; and many other extended family members and friends. Marlene touched many lives through her loving and caring work in the community and in her church.2 She was born on May 16, 1935 at Indiana. As of 1955,her married name was Reed.1 She married John Everett Reed, son of Maurice "Morris" Reed and Jennie Emaline Trout, in 1955.1,2 Marlene Marie Bouse died on August 12, 2000 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 65.2,3
