She attended New Life Tabernacle Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kenny Lilly. Survivors include her six children, Brenda Beckner Felts (Wade), Johnny Beckner Jr., Dena Beckner Varney, Anna Conner, Greg Conner (Lorie), Laura Pike (Jay); 26 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; Siblings, Linda Jones, Vickie Rippy, Lisa Slone (Dale), John Lilly, Paul Lilly, Joe Hall, Chuck Shockley, and Mike Shockley (Robin); Several step-children; Several nieces and nephews; Special friends, Mae Aboulhosn, Wanda Sizemore and Kathy Fortner. Born May 15, 1950, in his grandmother’s home in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Irma Jean Lilly Hall, and grandson of the late Minnie Cecil Everidge. He is survived by sisters Joyce Darlene Radford of Princeton, WV, special sister Linda Jones of Princeton, WV. Lisa Slone (Dale) of Princeton, WV, and former sister-in-law Donna Odell Lilly of Henry, Va. whom he loved as a sister. Brothers Paul David Lilly of Princeton, WV, John Lee Lilly of Princeton, WV, and Joseph Allen Hall of Princeton, WV. A special niece Brenda Felts, of Mt. Airy, NC, and nephew Johnny Eugene Beckner of Princeton, WV. He had many nieces and nephews he also loved. He was blessed with longtime friends, Jason Alexander Crook of Princeton his best friend and devoted caregiver, Father Rand Frew of New York, and Judi Crowe of Spring Hill, FL. He loved his friends Scottie R. Wall & Shawn Kanode of Princeton, WV as his sons. He liked helping people in any way he could. People who made a difference in his life, the late Preston Crowe of Ragan Reality, Phillip Ball of Smith, Lilly & Ball, Mitzi Kidd of Pearisburg, VA., and late Roy Ratcliff of Princeton Floral & Eddie Smith. Anyone who knew Kenneth knew he loved his Lord, and Savior. His favorite scripture was “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give thee the desires of your heart”. He finally found a home and church family in Princeton at New Covenant Church of Princeton. He worked 13 years for McGraw-Hill Publishing Co. in New York as senior systems clerk at Business Week Magazine. He mailed discarded office supplies to the Missionaries of Charity, Bronx New York. He was a tenant organizer with the Chelsea Coalition on Housing. He fought for affordable housing and helped prevent people becoming homeless. He participated in many tenant rallies and picket lines against bad landlords. He was compassionate in helping the homeless. He volunteered at the Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen in New York. He also collected soda cans at work for the homeless. He raised over $1,000 in a New York City March Against Hunger walk to benefit charities. He returned to his hometown, Princeton, WV to be with family and manage his rental properties. He continued looking for ways to help people. He collected donations of clothing, etc. to benefit Pam’s Place, a shelter for battered women, and Mark’s Place, a maternity resource center. He loved and trusted animals more than most people. He loved his cats and dog, and Tiny Tim, the hamster. He was an active member of the Mercer County Spay Association. He enjoyed painting, crafts, loved Christmas, and making ceramic, ornaments. He supported Amy’s House of Hope on Thorn Street in Princeton. Burial will follow in the Hall Cemetery on Halls Ridge Road in Princeton.2 He was born on May 15, 1950 at Mercer Co., West Virginia.2,4 He died on September 25, 2020 at Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 70.2,4

He had received the Victory Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Medal and the American Area Medal for Victory. Mr. Woodring was a retired coal miner, last working for the A.T. Massey Group at Capels, he was a member of the UMWA and of the Protestant faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Darrell and Stephen Woodring; a sister, Stella Hickman; a granddaughter, Cathy Abshire; and several infant brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife, Ida Guilliams Woodring of the home; children, Noland Woodring and wife, Becky of Dandridge, Tenn., Janisse Kesler, Gary Woodring and wife, Glenna all of Princeton, Deborah Griffith and husband, Mike of Pipestem, and Charles Woodring and wife, Sara of Bland, Va; stepchildren, Mark and Steve O’Dell both of Tennessee and Susie Harmon of Princeton; six sisters, Rosa Haga and husband, Wayne of Princeton, Norma Massaroni of Greensboro, N.C., Donna Cecil of McComas, Judy Taylor and husband, Billy, Sharon Parsons all of Weyanoke, and Emma Arthur of Orlando, Fla; brothers, Alfred Woodring of McComas, Curtis Woodring of California, Nathan Woodring of Rock, and Stanley Woodring of Beckley; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens on the Courthouse Road in Princeton. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Mercer County Veterans Council. on September 11, 2002.3

Beckner, Sr., 68, of Princeton died Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at his home. Born August 23, 1943 at Princeton he was the son of the late Joseph Beckner and Pansy Matheny Beckner. He was the owner and operator of Johnny's Body Shop and Towing in Princeton where he enjoyed helping his customers over the years. He loved to spend time with his kids and grandkids. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, Carl Beckner, Paul Beckner, Bill Beckner, Grover Beckner and George Beckner and three sisters, Betty Conner, Helen Smith and Mildred Priest. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dathenal Vines Beckner; five daughters, Brenda Felts and husband Wade of Mt. Airy, NC, Dena Varney, Laura Beckner, Renee Cole, Heather Fain and husband David all of Princeton; four sons, Johnny Beckner, Jr. of Princeton, Johnny Beckner, III and wife Susan of Oakvale, Michael Beckner of Princeton and a grandson who was raised like a son, A. J.
