She was preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Elizabeth Baker St.Clair; father, Robert Charles St.Clair; husband, Edward Lewis Thompson; sisters, Echoleen Crawford, Christine Runyon and Eloise Crawford; brothers, Charles St.Clair, Robert St.Clair and Jasper St.Clair; and grandson, Paul Wertz. Mary is survived by three siblings; her children, Charles E. Thompson, Mary F. Thompson Steinmetz, David R. Thompson, Darrell L. Thompson, and Carolyn Thompson Witt (Moorman Witt); grandchildren, Samantha Gregory (Allen Gregory), Amy Thompson (Chris Dangerfield), Tiffany Joanis, Heather Witt, Caleb Witt (Josie), Chris Thompson, Rocky Dooley, Dale Dooley, Nicole Wooldridge, Karah Smith (Jesse), Edward Wooldridge, and Cassidy Kasey; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and last but not least the most dearest to her heart her lifelong friend, Dot Morris. Mary was the foundation of our family. She spent her life putting all others before herself. Mary worked and retired from Fred Whitaker with more than 30 years of service. She loved all her babies, blood or not, and she raised countless children throughout her 85 years. Mary had a personality that could not ever be duplicated. Her memory will live on through all of us. We would like to give special thanks to Penny Gardner (Miracle Hands) with Creative Balance Massage Therapy for her services for Mary and to her nurses, Karen and Barb with Heartland Hospice. Last but not least, her doctor of 37 years, Dr. Clifford Nottingham and staff at Carilion North Roanoke as well as her Pastor and family friend, Ralph Parker, for the prayers and support given during this time and countless times before.
