Burial will be in the Calfee Cemetery, Mount Tabor. The child died in Wilmington Sunday. The body will be taken from the Calfee Funeral home to the church one hour before the services. on November 16, 1961.1

Bette was born to Venus Vivian and Robert Lee Conrad on Oct 18, 1926. She spent her childhood on the family farm west of Castleford, Idaho. Except for one semester when she went to Los Angeles County High School, Calif., she attended school in Castleford and graduated from Castleford High School in 1944. Bette had met a young sailor, Marshall Johnson, when he was home for a short leave from duty in the Pacific Theatre. They became engaged on their second date. Immediately after graduation, she and her mother traveled crosscountry to Virginia, where Marshall was stationed. He was able to get a 24-hour pass on June 6, 1944, and Bette and Marshall began their marriage of 48 years on that day. After the war, the couple returned to Filer, where they resided until Marshall's death in 1992. They were blessed with a son, Lindsay, and a daughter, Suzan. Bette was an active member of the Filer First Baptist Church, where she held numerous offices and sang in the choir. She especially enjoyed serving her Lord through work in the Mission program. Bette enjoyed sewing, gardening, and traveling throughout the west in their pickup camper with friends. She loved family camping trips at Easley Campground north of Ketchum. Most of all, Bette enjoyed having coffee and visiting with her many friends. She had an infectious laugh and a beautiful smile. Bette is survived by her son, Lindsay, and daughter-in-law, Gini, of Mountain Home; daughter, Suzan Ronk, and son-in-law, Jay, of Pocatello; grandchildren, Gina Knudson, Jeff Johnson, Jayson Ronk and Bekky Ronk; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her devoted friend and loyal companion, Earle Montgomery. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marshall; and brothers, Ed, Lee and Earl (Bus) Conrad. Bette's family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Tami and the wonderful staff at Country living for all the loving care given to Mom this past year. A service for Bette will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at the Filer Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Gilman of the First Filer Baptist Church officiating. on May 15, 2005.4

     Robert Thornton Johnson Robert Thornton Johnson, 73, of Richmond, died Thursday, December 22, 2011. He was born February 9, 1938 in Waynesboro, a son of John R. and Audrey Holt Johnson. Bobby graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1955 and VCU in 1969. He was a veteran of the Army, worked for DuPont in Richmond, and had retired from the Chesterfield County Schools, coaching football and baseball at Matoaca High School. He was an avid sports fan, and loved the beach and traveling. Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, E. Eugene Johnson and Bobbie's twin, Richard H. Johnson. Surviving are his daughter, Kim Bormann and husband, Gordon, of Fishersville; a special nephew, Kevin Brunner, whom he considered his son; his sister, Bette Meeteer of Waynsboro; 2 grandchrildren, Amie L. and Fallon R. Bormann; numerous other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at McDow Funeral Home, Waynesboro, by Dr. Glen Holman.
